View Full Version : Your greatest American poll? - ..............

The BBC ran a poll about the greatest American from Washington to Clinton. They also threw in Homer Simpson...
If this is an example of their upcoming "What The World Thinks of America" broadcast I can assume how biased and baseless it will be.
The sad thing of it all the ones taking to poll 19+ percent voted for Simpson, 10 percent for Jefferson, 16 for Lincoln and King.
If the world judges the US from a cartoon then they have no right to talk about US education and stupidity level for they surely are the masters of ignorance. Simpson is not an "American" he is a cartoon character. Hell they did not even counter Simpson with Mickey Mouse in their swoop into stupidity! I use to have respect for the BBC.

Homer won! YAY!! Homer shows all of the attributes of the average American. Out of shape, stupid, severe mental problems, etc.
I think Homer's just a lot funnier than Lincoln or Jefferson.

If you judge the world by a poll taken by one TV network, then you have no right to talk about world opinion.
It is foolish to include a cartoon character alongside serious figures from history on a poll, if that poll intends to be serious.
Your contradiction is more foolish.

I'm probably gonna get heat for this but I'd say Lincoln. Followed by Malcolm X.

I'd say anyone who owned a slave should not be on the list, but that's just me.

Jesus DC. There may be hope for you yet. I think I sense a chink in the armor. Samuel Clemens was a member of the Anti-Imperialist League and Hemingway was definitely a closet Socialist. Wasn't Charles Lindberg being investigated for being a communist? I thought I had read something along those lines.

Clemens and Hemmingway are up there for their literary work as American writers. Charles Lindbergh was a Nazi before WWII.

Though I find it humorous Homer topped out at number 1, I'd not pick him.
My top American would be FDR.
