Next Sunday elections in Venezuela confronts the mass media businesses global dictate against the local PSUV’s “people in red”.
The media have broadcasted their overwhelming propaganda in several forms,
The oldfashion red dangers:
“The reds will take your children away and will send them to Cuba”
“The reds will dispose of your home or will oblige you to share it with some poor families”
“The reds will confiscate any extra personal property (extra car or pc)”
“You children will be tought in school denouncing their own parents, according to the communist doctrine”
“You will have to use a rationbook to buy your foor”
Actual social problems have been overmagnified: The delinquence, corruption of officials, scarcities of all kind.
Using the Washingtonian anti terrorist campaign in accusing Chvez of supporting the FARC, Iran, etc.
A “rumor has it” campaign using the cellphone companies (Bellsouth, etc.) techno-platform to send messages like “PSUV’s candidate for Caracas has just betrayed Chvez, don’t vote for him!”
On the other hand, “PSUV’s people in red” just have vague promises of a next socialism to offer. Is that enough to win an election against the all mighty mass media?
