View Full Version : Tim Lahaye, author of the Left Behind books, is as evil as Hitler.

I mean, the climax of the series, which involves his "Jesus" killing tens of millions of dissenters in a matter of seconds and then throwing them into a lake of fire, is the ultimate Final Solution. I'm sure he's been to Germany or to Canada before, where he ought to have been prosecuted: Does the fact that Jews were saved in his interpretation of Armageddon exonerate him from being accused of hate crimes. As an atheist, I feel that the work advocates religious violence and genocide against me and against all free thinkers.

Lahaye wrote some books in which people die, Hitler caused people to actually die. Spot the difference?
Next you will be saying that George Lucas is even worse because he had a whole planet destroyed by the Death Star:rolleyes:

Comparing Star Wars to Left Behind is like comparing apples to oranges. In Star Wars, Lucas tells a story in which an empire blows up a planet and commits other crimes and atrocities so that he can establish that this empire is an evil and repressive entity led by evil and repressive individuals; conversely, Left Behind is a fictional account of what Lahaye believes will happen to our world and to humanity, and anyone familiar with Lahaye's theology and with those who follow him knows that he sees the outcome of his theology as being desirable and righteous. In Lahaye's universe, pretty well everyone who is not a fundie or a Jew or a crypto-fundie "Catholic" is gruesomely killed and cast into a lake of fire either by Fuhrer Christ or by some kooky tribulation.

The builders and operators of the Death Star are antagonists dessigned to be the most evil of evil. The empire is entirely made up of charicture-evil bastards. In the Left Behind books Jesus is, unsurprisingly, the good guy and on the side of the protagonists - killing hundreds of millions of people is thus presented as a "Good Thing(tm)".
I'm not entirely sure this makes the author worse than Hitler since he hasn't gone out and killed six million jews yet but I would say that his book proudly carries the Christian tradition of sadism from the Bible. His books, especially aimed at children, are absolutely fucking insidious as is the computer game which, for me, occupies the same space as the game "Ethnic Cleansing".
So no, not as bad as Hitler but still a terrible excuse for a human being and a terrible waste of carbon.

Which of my statements was hyperbolic? Please explain or your post will be removed as spam, given that it adds nothing to the thread.
