As a school project, I am to do a speech about communism in general, and i need tips and advice on which points to talk about. Also remember that I'll be talking to my class, with only a few who have any idea about politics.

The points i've already fought about are denounching (spelling?) dictators such as Pol Pot and Stalin, but also mentioning how much better the world will be if we work together instead of spring yourself to greatness and let the others rot at the bottom.

Any more ideas?

It depends on what you exactly want to tell and what analysis you're taking.
If you want to tell about the Soviet Union and take a Trotskyist analysis you could tell about the success of the 1917 revolution, but that it degenerated due to isolation in a backward country. Folllowing from that you could make the case for internationalism and explain what socialism and communism really is by stating that these are higher forms of development as compared to capitalism.

You could explain that capitalism, due to its own destructive forces, is not able to develop our society further and in fact does the opposite. What I find helping a lot for these occasions is using Maslow's hierarchy of needs (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maslow's_hierarchy_of_needs) to explain that humans are not selfish by nature but are in fact very social animals once the basic needs are being fulfilled.

Just a few ideas. I don't know what you exactly want.

Sounds too utopian. Instead, focus on exploitation of the workers, classes, and collective ownership of the means of production. The Anarchist FAQ could also be helpful.

As said, I'm making this speech to my class, so it needs to be very basic for people to understand, but the thing about exploitation of the workers due to the means of production is a good idea. I still have a month to go, so keep the ideas flowing.
