what do you think about that?
Personally i think 16 year is okay, but i think that the parent and the young adult should sign both to allow him to serve and he would not take part in any war or conflict before its 18 year old.

To fight against Communism of course.

I'm thinking--18, you are old enough to make your own choices and old enough to actually fight.

Not have a drink though no, you'll go mental!!!

My personal, idealistic opinion, is no one is ever old enough to go out and kill people, its unnatural and unhuman, although in practise I'd say 18. :p

In a revolution, one should be able to volunteer for a rebel organization at 16.
For an established government, one should have to be 19 to join the military. Perhaps I say 19 just because I am scared shitless for my friends that are signing up right now while still in high school, but I don't think a person can fully think clearly of what awaits them in their future when they have been living with their parents their whole lives and going to school their whole lives.

Unfortunately, it seems to me that the point at which militaries will be unnecessary will be at the point of human extinction. I think the limits should be based on your actual position within the military; combat roles should be open at 21, medical positions should be open at 18 and positions removed from battle altogether - computer work and such - should be open at 16.

This.

If we are talking post revolution, I would suggest that it would be in everyone's interest to set the bar higher rather than lower. Except, well, we aren't going to force someone to not be in the "military". (The "military" would exist as it does now, in a future perfect society.)

If we are talking right now, fuck off with your killing machine!

Preferably never. People aren't even fully developed physically until around 20 years of age. Our growth/development shouldn't be compromised if it can be avoided.

Whoa, an anarchist future in which a military still exists? That's not in my vision. Popular militias, perhaps, but an institution that only exists to oppress and sucks up millions and billions of dollars? I don't think we should have institutions whose only purpose is to kill.

If we are talking a communist millitant movement i think it depends on the circumstances. I think an interesting thing will be if people mature (mentally) faster or slower. Obviously we dont know but can only speculate so really im not in a position to say what it should be.

Now if we are talking about the revolution. Can i ask if we really would have the recourses in a tooth and nail war to say "hmmmm now you look sixteen son but im having my doubts". No!

Anyone who volunteers and obviously would not be a hindrance would end up fighting.

I think thats how shit would work out.

Joining the military in the service of the state is absolutely reactionary and particularly if you live in one of the advanced capitalist/imperialist states.
