Does anybody here listen to stuff such as Rites of Spring, The Get Up Kids, Sunny Day Real Estate, Jawbreaker, The Anniversary, The Promise Ring, and post-emo stuff like Mineral and Texas is the reason.
I've been listening to a few emo bands for a very long time, but it wasn't only until recently that I grew heavily into it. It's all just so easy for a young person like myself to relate to, and when I'm suffering from a particularly acute fit of depression it is the perfect form of consolation.

I do like Envy, though I've never associated them with emo music. I'd characterize them as some sort of a post-rock screamo band.

Way back in the day I liked Taking Back Sunday, Story of the Year and The Used.
I also really, really liked one album, Wiretap Scars, by a band called Sparta. When At the Drive-In split up, and half the band became The Mars Volta, the other half became Sparta.

Well, most of the bands I listed are indie rock, but their lyrics deal heavily with emotional subjects hence them being emo. I listen to it not only because I enjoy their musicianship, but they're incredibly easy to relate to, especially the get up kids.

411, anybody? As in the early-90s (?) California emocore band, with that guy from those sXe bands in it? I'm great at descriptions, eh? Pretty on the political side, but sonically very Rites of Spring.
I was in a kinda-emo band that was kinda more folk-punk by the end of things - http://www.myspace.com/disvictionparty
