Russia was nationalist before the collapse of the USSR. You have a quote by Stalin in your signature, but don't notice any soviet nationalism going on?

Many Russian Nationalists sided with the Bolsheviks during in 1917, as they thought the soviets could bring greatness to Russia and make her a match for other European powers at the time or because they saw the Whites were loosing and sided with the Bolsheviks because they didn't want to get hung.
When Stalin took power, his mantra of "socialism in one country" allowed those Russian nationalists to call themselves "Soviet Patriots" instead, and many of them became high ranking members of the Communist party and administrative officials. Then in 1991, when the shit hit the fan, they just traded in their soviet flags and party membership cards for buisiness suits and wallets full of cash, and they could call themselves Russian nationalists instead of Soviet Patriots. Since they already had high places in the former Soviet government, they used their influence to remain in power in the new Russian Federation but as Capitalist Nationalists instead of Soviet Bureucrats.
