Is the Russian Federation's Communist Party trying to restore the Soviet Union? I'd be interesting in seeing its platform in English, if anyone could help me out.

I can't find a detailed platform in English, but I can tell you that they are a Democratic Socialist/Social Democratic Party with minority factions at either end pushing in the directions of either Soviet-style Communism or Social Liberalism depending on the faction. Their main focus these days is opposing Putin. They feel he is creating a dictatorship.

As discussed before, they mix nationalism and bigotry with Stalinism. Economically, they support a "regulated market". Yeah, they're not worthy of support.
There is a party in Russia called Socialist Resistance (Sotsialisticheskoye Soprotivleniye), they are Trotskyist, affiliated with the CWI.

Yeah, whatever.
Call me back when you know enough about them. I am well aware of their reactionary ideology.

They are blatantly homophobic and have flirted with fascist forces. They are very typically a Russian phenomenon. In Russia, you are politically toast if you are liberal to homosexuals, immigrants or any other minority.

Do you actually have a point or are you just flaming?
And yes, as stancel pointed out we have an organisation there: http://socialism.ru/

No, that was in 2004-2005 when they marched together with NBP. Today, they are rather trying to be (Russian) social liberals.

They haven't changed. Still the crypto-fascist, nationalist, racist, homophobic, xenophobic, cappie scum they are.
MOSCOW, February 22, 2008 (GayRussia.ru) – Young homophobic communist Pavel Tarasov, who 18 months ago infamously said that a “good faggot is a dead faggot”, has surfaced as a staffer for Communist presidential candidate Gennady Zyuganov.
As a representative of the communist leader, Mr. Tarasov took part recently in debates between presidential candidates on Russian national TV channel.
He also participated in the anti-gay riots in Moscow during the city’s two Gay Prides in 2006 and last year, helping to disperse gay men and women with a group of young homophobic communists.
Wearing a red T-shirt with communist symbols, Mr. Tarasov was at the head of homophobic mob which shouted on the streets: “Death to faggots!”
In 2006 photographs of Tarasov and his comrades appeared on the Internet against a background of nationalists and Cossacks dispersing LGBT demonstrators.
During last year’s Gay Pride, he appeared again on the Moscow streets with his friends and made homophobic statements in front of the cameras.
Mr. Tarasov has published reports on his anti-gay riots on the official homepage of Youth Communist Union.
His most notorious homophobic statement was made in 2006 at the official forum of young communist homepage. In October 2006 he declared: “Faggots need to attract attention to themselves so that they could be regarded as gays, not as faggots. [A] Good faggot is a dead faggot!”
In addition, Mr. Tarasov is running for municipal election in Moscow on March 2, the same date as the presidential election.
The Communist Party of Russian Federation is still one of the most homophobic parties in Russia. Its leader Gennady Zyuganov says that homosexuality contradicts to Russian national traditions.
Communist member of State Duma Vitor Ilyukhin recently supported criminal penalty for homosexuality in Russia.
The proposal to ban homosexuality, and the violence against gay people, is supported by mainly far-right and right-wing parties, however this doesn't stop the reactionary pretenders of the so-called "left" in joining them. Then again, Stalin was the one that reversed the Bolsheviks' legalization of homosexuality in the first place.
The "social liberal" Yabloko is also homophobic. Gay people in Russia really have no other party to support them other than the party I mentioned earlier, which was bashed for being Trotskyist.

Homophobia is sadly not exclusive to fascists in Russia, but the political establishment is completely entangled to homophobia.

Well, the AKP (marxist-leninists of the stalinist form) are not - to my knowledge - homophobic. Neither are Russian trotskyites or Russian anarchists. But these groups are comparably small.

Well, there are other socialist/communist groups in Russia. But I don't know their position. The Russian Maoism Party is pro-gay, I believe. So what I said was incorrect. But the CPRF is not worthy of any support and all revolutionaries must break with it.
There is also a group called Revolutionary Homosexual Front that is communist and might be Maoist, I don't know.
There are probably many groups of the socialist left open to gay rights. The fact is you have these "communists" that want to join the right-wing and other bourgeois groups in support of homophobia, because of their reactionary neo-Stalinist ideology.
