Arreola's post got me thinking. :thumbup1:
Many times, I've observed that light-skinned people in predominantly dark-skinned ethnic groups often discriminate against the darker members. This is especially so in Indo-Pak communities, Latinos etc. In the UK, I know many Pakistanis referring to darker pakistanis/indians using the N word.:( And there are many Latinos who do the same thing with respect to Blacks.
Question, is colonialism the only cause for this? People say these ethnic groups were all once ruled by imperialists, and because imperialists were white (and rulers at that), they put two and two together, and concluded that white=superior, non-white=inferior:crying:. This is the logic I often hear from some people.
But I find it hard to believe, because most of these nations have become independent long time ago. But more importantly, I can't believe that people could be so gullible as to be brainwashed with such 'white is right' propaganda.
So are there other reasons for this bizarre behavior?
