Catholic and Communistic

When I make it known that I am a Catholic first and Communist second and not necessarily in that order by the way, only grew up that way. One must study Communism as one must study Catholicism to fully appreciate both. I look to Latin America and the Liberation Theology that is springing forth in the mountains along with the cocoa plants. I think of Jesus in the temple upsetting the tables of the usury agents that plied their trade and I say Jesus was no capitalist. If he was at all political he was socialistic in his teachings. There have been sins committed in the name religion as well as in communism because both are human bound and subject to errors but not condemnation in my estimation. Both beliefs give me strength to survive in the poverty of capitalism.

Liberation theology is all well and good... one of my personal heroes is Archbishop Romero. However, you'll run into problems being a "Catholic first and a communist second." For example, if there were a socialist revolution in your country, and the Catholic hierarchy denounced it and sided with the capitalists (as they did in Spain and nearly everywhere else), you would be forced to choose between the Church and the revolution. That's a problem many at this board will have with your position, one that does not extend to unaffiliated Christians or members of other faiths.

I will first of all say welcome. (and if you were born in 1941 as I may assume by your username then it is great that older people are joining us, to prove that Communism is just not some teenage rebellion.)

I believe that Jesus, if existed as it is told in the bible, was no doubt at least a slight leftist. (Social Democrat?)

The Christian community here is small however, and filled with many many atheists.

To put something to add to the thread, it can be a conflict that the Pope is more important than the revolution. Why wait for the second coming when we can make heaven on Earth right?

No. If the Bible is true, Jesus really was the Son of God and really did perform those miracles. If the Bible is not true, then we don't know anything about the life of Jesus at all, so any speculation about what he did or believed is pointless.
