The media and politicians here in the U.S. tried their best to portray the Russians as barbarian animals raping innocent Georgia. I'm no fan of the Russian state, but that propaganda effort pissed me off.

Mr. Saakashvili, who has compared Russia’s incursion into Georgia to the Nazi annexations in Europe in 1938 and the Soviet suppression of Prague in 1968, faces domestic unease with his leadership and skepticism about his judgment from Western governments.

I think the US state got Georgia do this to justify the existence of NATO.
Putin even says "What really surprises me is how powerful is the propaganda machine of the so called west this is just amazing, this is unbelievable, this is "totally incredible" and yet it is happening. Of course this because first, people are very susceptible to suggestion, second ordinary people usually don't follow world events that closely. So it is very easy to misrepresent the actual course of events and to impose somebody elses point of view"
Anyway the video is very enlightening, i recommend you watch it.
