Who are they, and what are they all about? I have encountered very little material about them in my research, besides a wikipedia article. I know they have a broader definition of Proletariat that extends to those traditionally considered lumpen-proles.

Harry Cleaver is an autonomist, if I'm not mistaken.

He writes some good material.

EDIT: I forgot to mention Italy...there was a lot of autonomist history there, and theorists whom you should look into.

If you want to learn about autonomist marxism then the most important author to read about is Negri. I reccomend "Books for burning" and "Marx Beyond Marx".

But honestly I found his early writings (pre-autonomist) where he considered himself a "new-leninist" to be most interesting.
