Should it be closed or kept open?

It should be kept open as a museum.

We are talking about the jail right?
If yes, of course and it should be closed, we should destroy it, it would be better!

Don't destroy it, that destroys the memory of it. It should be keep intact like other infamous prisons so we don't forget.

Why retain jails, when people dont have a place to stay, or a place to work?
If its going to stay as a building then make it something really useful, a factory maybe or a big "hotel" .

Return it to Cuba, the base was leased to the US in a period of Inequality, the whole treaty should be invalid.

It should be given back to Cuba, but kept open to house terrorists (i.e. Bush, Cheney, Brown, Blair, McCain, Rumsfeld, Pelosi, Reid, Kerry).

Closed down and the land given back to Cuba. Demolish it, memorialize it, that's the Cuban's choice. But the people of Guantanamo should not be tarnished anymore with the image of a concentration camp.

I'd stick Dick Cheney in it and then level it.

I voted "yes" but this is not actually as simple an issue as it seems. If Guantanamo Bay were somehow returned to Cuban jurisdiction, the prisoners who are currently interned there would be moved to black sites and the torture of these prisoners would continue just as before. The main difference would be that these new sites would not be subject to inspection by groups such as the Red Cross and so the US would be able to inflict even more terrible torture methods and degrading treatments on prisoners without risking the condemnation of these humanitarian groups or the international community. The US government has already acknowledged that these sites exist but there is no oversight mechanism to protect prisoners against torture because the locations of the sites are unknown to anyone except the US government - Source (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/5321606.stm)

Supposedly, besides the black sites in Eastern Europe, there is actually a "black site" within Guantanamo Bay itself...a Gitmo within Gitmo, so to speak.
You do NOT want to find yourself there.
Guantanamo Bay is a horrible place. I feel bad for the people imprisoned there, being that most of them were bought wholesale from the Northern Alliance and Pakistan.

I was going to say that anyone who votes no should be banned for fascism but then I accidentally voted no.
Shit.
Yes, it should be closed immediately along with all other foreign American prisons.

what is a black site?
A facility closed to outside inspection, where the US tortures suspected or captured terrorists with the aim of collecting information which will allow them to stop terrorist attacks from taking place and ultimately destroy major terrorist networks. There are allegedly many black sites spread throughout the world, including some ships which are currently being used to hold prisoners without the knowledge of other countries.

The thought of this scares the hell out of me.
