Now seems a good a time as any for the left wing to start being more vocal in UK (and i guess other countries) politics.

Admittedly the left at the moment is looking a bit smashed to bit, the respect party has fallen apart because they were cronies with islamic fundementalists. SWP is just a pile of useless shit which has never acheived anything and is unlikely to acheive anything in the forseable future.

But surely now is an excellent time for the left wing, the collapse of many banks and the government bailout should make it easy for the left to be successful.

Where is the leadership going to come from? Or has the left given up and decided to go on revleft instead?

Good question--do you Commies have any leaders or is this a free for all? I plan to take charge in the US after the Revolution myself. Because of the many regrettable deaths at the barracades of many fine comrades during the Revolution and in the purges that will no doubt occur afterwords, I feel it will be my duty to rule in the name of my fallen comrades here on RevLeft.

I will consider it an honor.

I guarantee you that a large amount of revleft are active in organising and adgitating.

About the question of leadership, you should know the answer by now.

It just seems to me, in england at least, that the left wing are pretty much dead when they should be having a resurgence.

i think the sectarianism of the british left is tearing itself apart. Plus i don't think we ever really got over the 'looney left' labelling of the thatcherite 80's.

Back in the 70's was our day.

We're divided yes, and seen negatively. The parties and groups are up their own arses in the left ghetto and its sad. Very sad.

We need complete left unity to tackle the issue. Or just loads of education of people about the problem through propoganda and push for an autonomous uprising.

I think its clear that leftism is laid out on the table more due to this crises. I think we need to go about this in a few ways.

I was inspired by a meeting at the anarchist bookfare hosted by ian bone and Martin wight. It got me thinking that we need to organize in our local communities much more. This can be accomplished by calling meetings (they may be small at first but with abit of luck and skill prehaps they will spread though word of mouth). During that meeting problems in the community can be discussed. Be it anything from evictions , job loses food prices or even just how skanky the area has become. Then the community can work towards solving those issues.

This will allow people to consider leftist beliefs more.

Also I would like to congratulate the IWW and say that they need to continue doing their stuff.

I agree with you, the left doesn't need some huge mega international committe of communism. It needs to be far more localised, community based. Only in that way can the left wing show itself to be the what it is; an attempt at a more egaletarian society.

*waits for a stastisic about the IWW in the UK growing by 300%*

Many of the Leftist groups in the UK are pretty shitty by the sounds of it - but then I'm only judging from what I hear about here. The AF sounds good, and Liberty and Solidarity (I don't know about SolFed, but I'm curious), and the SP-CWI sounds good.
butttt yeah.

Yeah i think a problem that i have observed is that many potential leftists just view it as a students thing. So i think greater community involvement will help dispel that aswell.
