I've watched a couple interviews of this guy, now my view on political parties are very very very synical, I also believe that Socialism should be approached from an economic syndicalist angle rather than a political standpoint at first.

That being said I think this guy could be positive in the sense he could get the idea of socialism out o the public, and get it out in a positive way. He always brings up worker and citizen control, and direct economic democracy, which is very very positive, and talking about how giving money to Capitalists is NOT socialism. I do wish he was more charismatic and spoke better, and had somewhat better arguments.

He is getting more press time lately, now that the economy is crumbling. Whats your guys opinion of this guy and his party?

We have a thread going in the politics section with some videos. The guy makes himself look like a complete doofus and gets destroyed by a faux news interviewer (which I didn't know was possible).

Next stop: Relevancy!

Woo-hoo!

Seriously, Sanders is my socialist of choice.

Social-democrat. Not a socialist. Blah. :glare:

ALL of those guys are social-democrats really.

His problem is that he falls into those stupid word traps the guy brings up, the fox news guy is trying to show that America (i.e. government) is moving toward socialism, wheres Brian agrees he's saying America (i.e. the people) are moving toward socialism.

I don't think he could ever REALLY be relevant, but he could, (if he plays his cards right) help the image of socialism and open more minds to it.

I'm not saying he's a Debs, but he could do something.

Personally, I think he comes off as a bumbling fool that barely knows what he's supposed to say.

Perhaps it's due to his inexperience, but come on. Those videos were embarrassing, even the Colbert one.

Maybe once he's not so green around the gills, he will do a better job. Who knows?

Just watched the vids.

I thought we democrats had a severe lack of choices during our primary. How did this guy get the nomination? Was it a choice between him and a rock? Seriously, did they just pick a guy from the first campus they visisted?

Whatever, I hope he does well, though I think the libertarians have a better chance at shaking up the system a little, especially in the South and Montana.

I second that Debs was one of the best socialist politician, I'd argue in the world.

Even if he isn't the best speaker, although I don't think he did to bad, I think it is very good that he is getting air time. It lets people know that there is a different system out there besides capitalism, and that communism/socialism isn't evil.

i think he was good natured and actually a positive face for socialism. bravo to moore; but he still needs a little charisma and needs to be better spoken. any links to the videos?

Despite being a social-democrat, I think senator Sanders is our best bet for getting a positive image of socialism into the minds of the American workers. Moore is pretty uncharismatic.

Agreed. We have to do much better than this if we're ever going to get anywhere.

Sanders pretty much gets the same air-time most senators gets.

He really can hold himself in a debate, unlike Moore

I watched some on his videos, smart guy, I like that concept of the bailout only being payed by rich peoples and coorporate taxes, and the idea of if a company is too big to fail, its too powerful to exist.
