Bush Stunt Delays Return of Troops (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A27574-2003May7.html)

So, now we find that Bush's re-election photo-op delayed the return of sailors who were at sea for 10 months and cost between $800,000 and $1,000,000. Can you imagine the howls coming from right-wing radio shows if Clinton had done such a thing?

It's bad enough that Bush, who dodged the draft and then went AWOL for a year, used military trappings for his re-election speech, but he did it with the swaggering arrogance we've come to expect from this administration. Families waiting for their sons and daughters? Who cares. Bush took a nap aboard the ship anyway. Great cost to taxpayers while states and the federal government face huge deficits? No problem for Bush, he's got his.

The sheer hubris is staggering. Coming from Bush, though, it's not surprising.

Yeah; it's a good point. I'm replying so that I can bring this up to the top again; maybe the right-wingers won't try to ignore it this time.

It's his God-given right as the president of the greatest nation on earth. Didn't you see how easily they killed those civilians? That's all down to Bush, of course he should be allowed to do whatever he wants with the ships and their passengers. If it wasn't for him, we'd all have been killed by terrorists long ago.

Look at him for God's sake - the man's an international hero!

Correction from the link:

The headline on a May 8 article about President Bush's visit to the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln incorrectly said the ship was delayed. The ship arrived at its scheduled time after waiting offshore for a day.

Yeah, when I saw that, I got fucking pissed off. I couldn't believe that a draft dodger would have the gall to approach troops as "one of them". But, hell, he's the emperor so he can get away with it, right? Remember when Clinton got reamed for getting a haircut on a plane? Sheesh, talk about a double standard.
