Please send me a short (as short as possible) summary of your political ideology. I'm compiling a list and will sticky a thread with all of them in it when its done. Make sure to also add a list of "most essential writings" to the summary because links to those will also be posted.

I want to make sure that there's no bias involved at all, so I'm giving everyone a chance to give their own summary of their own ideology. After I've gotten them all I will compare them to each other and merge/edit them to a final draft.

To make sure that it's acceptable to all the people involved I will send them the final draft for confirmation before the summary is posted.

Send them to me by PM: Link (http://www.revleft.com/vb/private.php?do=newpm&u=10457)

Or post them in this thread.

Thank you.

^ when i asked for the wikipedia thing many people said yes, yet nobody did,

plus with Malte's wiki add-on coming up soon any summaries you get could go into this as well

its a great idea if anybody contributes

Well it's pretty simple, if you're not going to post a summary of your ideology I'm going to take it from other sources and edit it myself. If you happen to disagree with the final outcome it won't be my problem.

Of course I'll try to do it as unbiased as possible and take information from such sources, but I can't guarantee that you'll be happy with it. That's why I started this thread; to give everyone the chance to write their own summary.

So, yeah, it doesn't really matter if no one responds, just don't get mad when you see the thread and it's not like the way you wanted it to be. :p

Do you intend to do this for every group, or just broadly for all Trotskyist groups, all Maoist groups, etc.?

Broadly for every general group, so the main ones would be; Anarchism, Maoism, Trotskyism, Hoxhaism, Left-Communism etc., but then again I wouldn't mind having ones for Anarcho-Syndicalism, Orthodox Leninism etc., as long as there's a name for it and there's a clear distinction from the others.

So for example I wouldn't create two categories for Maoism just because RCP'ers disagree about some stuff with other Maoists.

I'm going to post this next week, so far I've received entries for:

Anarcho-individualism
Orthodox Leninism

I added an entry for Orthodox Leninism because I'll also add one for Hoxhaism, and since one could argue that Hoxhaism is basically the same as "Marxism-Leninism", it seems to be unfair to not give an entry to Orthodox Leninism. Since that tendency opposes both official Marxism-Leninism and Trotskyism it is a distinct tendency by itself, however much others (including myself :p) may disagree with that.

Ok, seems like there ain't much interest in posting your own summaries, which is fine, just don't get annoyed when you don't like mine. :p

I will be posting these in the coming week.

Remind me again as to the purpose of this exercise. Assuming of course that its not some simple fetish for categorisation. It might help if you actually told people why they should send in summaries or otherwise aid you in pigeon-holing them

To provide information on the different kinds of ideologies that exist, so that people can read more about them and so that they can gain a better understanding of them, which is one of the purposes of the Theory forum.

You see, before people turn into know-it-all snobs like yourself, they wonder about such things. This is why threads are made asking what the differences are between ideologies in the Learning forum, and why people wish to gain a fuller understanding of the issues. Sure, they can be like you and read things on Wikipedia and then think they're suddenly all-knowing and start posting inane crap on the forum, but this isn't aimed at people like that, i.e., you.

If you do not want to participate in this, or if you want to consider it pigeon-holing because you're paranoid and insecure, then by all means, ignore it.

Just don't whine about it here, because I consider it spamming, and I shall trash any further derailing of this thread in that manner.

Thank you.

EDIT: In fact, I'll do you one better; I'm going to close this thread to prevent further inane comments from being posted. If anyone wants to contribute, feel free to PM me with the summary, and I'll get back to you.

I'll be posting the thread with the initial summaries during the course of next week.

Why is this thread pinned?

Hmm, sorry, I've been really busy so I haven't been able to finish this sooner. I'll post them up within a few days.

When I have done that I'll also unpin this thread. It was pinned originally so that it would be more noticeable, which in turn would result in more people sending me their summaries.
