On Thursday, October 23, half a million Colombian workers took part in the one day general strike called by the CUT trade union confederation. The strike was particularly strong among state employees and teachers, but affected all sections of the economy. Massive demonstrations took place in more than 40 cities around the country with 50,000 gathering in the capital Bogotá

Fuck Uribe, seeing how weak Evo has been and how Chavez its more talk than socialism, I'm glad that on the other hand the working class is raising against Uribe's neoliberal regime.

Whoa, missed this thread.--

Alvaro Uribe is a bastard and it's good to see workers, peasants, and indigenous peoples demonstrating against his regime.

The U.S. Imperialist media gave tons of press on "No Más Farc" rallies, and the assassination of Raul Reyes and Ivan Rios but absolutely none on Uribe's murderous war on the working and peasant classes and demonstrations of the Colombian people against his tactics.

This is great news. May good fortunes fall upon the working people of Colombia. And may Uribe rot in a jail cell for the rest of his life.
