Short Biography:

The Toasters were one of the first American bands in the third wave of ska, and may be the longest active ska band in the United States, though singer Robert Hingley is the only original member still in the band. They have released nine studio albums, most of them on the now-defunct Moon Ska independent record label. Moon Ska was founded and owned by Hingley and at one time it was the world's largest ska-only record label. Moon Ska folded in 2000, and Hingley has since founded a new label, Megalith Records.

I see that now, it says "embedding disabled by request". I didn't know about that, thanks. Ive since replaced it with a different video.

I first heard of The Toasters back in the late 80s via their album 'Pool Shark' (the UK title of Ska-boom) and loved them. At the time in England there was a ska revival going on with bands such as The Loafers, The Deltones, The Hotknives and Potato 5. The Toasters were the best of the American ska bands. As well as the first album I also had 'Recriminations' and an EP (think it was called 'East Side Beat'). After that I lost touch with the band till I picked up 'Dub 56' from a record shops bargain bin. Must say that I wasn't that keen on it.

Had more or less forgotten about The Toasters till the other month when they played a gig near me. I'd only heard about the gig as a ska band (The G Men) that I used to play in were supporting The Toasters. In fact it was The G Men's last ever gig after forming back in the late 80s. Can't tell you how the gig went myself as I wasn't there but one or two of my mates said it was a good gig.

they once saved me and my mates from an big thrashing by nazi-boneheads when i was still an young upstart.
we were in front of the stage and this big group of nazi's showed up and started to close us in to jump us. The band saw it from the stage, stopped the music and called the audience attention to it. this already made the nazi back off. And when the band "dedicated" the next song to them with the words "this song is about fascists, they stand over there, do we like them?" and the whole hall sreamed an defeaning "NO!!!" after wich the band started playing "don't let the bastards grind you down" they disapeared from the hall completly not to be seen again that night.

one of the best concert of my life....

Sounds like an interesting experience. I just came back from the 3 Floors Of Ska show, (which the Toasters headlined) and i think that was one of the best shows ive ever been too. Great vibe amongst the people, great pits, and the music was flawless. What more can one ask for?

I could have seen them live, but I don't like paying over ten bucks for a show(very rare exceptions are there, however). Excellent records in any case!
