View Full Version : May Day is the day for the salonsocialists - just a statemen
What do you think?
i think altough this might be true the day has(therefore) definitely not lost it's purpose-- altough it's more a day of the Labour party sympatizers/members than it is a day for the militant left parties...

Scotty,
I don't know if people outside of the Netherlands would know what "salonsocialist" means.
What is "salonsocialists"? ;)

Fake-Socialists.
The word was first used to name non-working class symphatizers who only discussed socialist ideology in so called "salons" rather than actually try to start a revolution by spreading ideology/organising workers, etc.

It is indeed stolen to some extent buy all the Trotskyists, liberals and environmentalists etc. But in countries such as the DPRK they still have spectacular people's and people's military parades and celebrations where they try to inspire global anti-imperialust solidarity.
I do not think that it was stolen to any extent. Although it is a holiday mainly celebrated by communistic and socialistic individuals, it was not branded towards any one particular ideology. Mayday is an International Worker's Holiday and is celebrated by Liberals, Unionists, Trotskyists, Marxist-Leninists, Stalinists, Communists, Socialists, Anarchists, and other mainly pro-worker groups around thje world. I do not see why you put Trotskyists, Liberals, and Environmentalists in the same group. (Comrade Thursday is a bit of an environmentalists, but in no way a Trotskyist.) Nonetheless, every day should be Mayday; the working class must band together, regardless of what the date is.
Happy Mayday, everyone.
