How would it function? How would collectivization work?
How would one recieve the 'fruits of his labor'. Who/what determines ones earning?
How can "each according to ability, each according to need" work? Why would anyone become a doctor?
How are decisions made?
I really need an outline of this. I know, I shouldn't get too much into it but the basics would be nice.

Use the searchengine, there are a million topics on this.
Also MIA (http://marxists.org) helps.

"How would it function?" First you have to consider that a society is not an organism (like a plant), it is the set of relationships between people that is both the set and something different (in our case the capitalist mode of production) which is determined historically. So in order to know how it would "function" we have to understand how the human relations created in the new society would work.
*It won't be a hierarchical social division of labor
*the means of production will be owned, managed, and reproduced collectively
*technological developments would help to increase production in higher levels in order to cover basic needs such production of food, medicine but what won't be produced any more are "opulent" products and services because they won't be necessary.
*There will be no coercive entity in charge of people
*There will be no classes
*Aesthetics will be the model of social reproduction of life (there will be no necessity of "entertainment" because leisure time will not exist, instead the production in all forms will be directed in an artistic way)
(those are my suggestions about the new society)
"How would collectivization work?"
Collectivization will work based on the decision consciously taken by each person and decision made as a whole, it won't be any kind of party or entitiy above persons in charge of "directing" the production because it will be based on the people's needs or the desire and interest of a single group. Because the social division of labor won't exist as it exist in the capital mode of production, we will have to think about how does the new division will work, something I haven't designed at the moment. But because no necessity of profit will be the central issue in the production but to cover the needs of people it can be the start point to think about it.
"How would one recieve the 'fruits of his labor'. Who/what determines ones earning?"
The production will be distributed directly to the people and because they are the ones deciding what to produce, how to produce and in which amount it won't exist any determinant but the needs of aware people. No earnings will exist (in terms of money) because the "fruits of the labor" will be directed distributed so no need of money will exist. And also basically because each human won't need anymore to worry about earnings because there will be no necessity of being "rich" in a capitalist way.
"How can "each according to ability, each according to need" work?" By participating in the decisions of the production.
"Why would anyone become a doctor?" Because he wants to be a doctor but also because this person would know that he can help in others activities so this person won't be a slave of a single job, it can be possible to participate in different activites because they will be needed and because it will be a form of expression of humanity. As I argue we cannot think in communism if we think using the same categories of capitalism.
"How are decisions made?" By each person but as a whole, in that case the best solution at the moment (not the unique) are the councils in which each person will have the oportunity to participate.
Those are my answers, I hope they can help you, any suggestion is welcome.
