International Chronical
"Ali Babá" Capitalism
First was the tissue of lies in the stupid effort to deceive the people about the objectives of war. Then came the fragrant violation of all and any international law. Then was the orgy of death and destruction against Iraq, already martyrized by years of war, dictatorship and embargos - all of those imposed by the "democratic" capitalist powers.
Then came the invasion by the troops of the USA and UK, and with them the plunder of the Iraqi cities. Which is a prelude to the plunder on the natural resources that the invaders now want to do. The destruction of the museums and libraries of the country from which the first civilizations arose will enter into History as one of the biggest crimes against humanity. The American Empire already has its library of Alexandria. It's the correct symbol of the violent, destructive and barbaric nature of capitalism in the start of this century.
Like Avante! said last week, the Ali Babás that plundered the iraqi cities last week were openly encouraged by the invaders. There are already circulating on the internet images of American Marines directly participating in plunders of palaces: http://www.informationclearing-house.info/...article2973.htm . After the plunders came the fires made by the organized and financed bands, according to the British journalist Robert Fisk (Independent, 17.4.03). Fisk claims that he witnessed 35 ministries in Baghdad being devorated by flames. Only 2 were protected since the first day by the invading troops: the Ministry of Petrol and the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
These are the interests of the imperialistic colonizers: the natural resources that they want to plunder, and the repression that will be necessary to achieve what they want.
The troops that "aren't enough to control the plunderings" were active the very same day when it was about killing the people manifestating against the new goverments imposed by the newcomers in Mosul.
All this is business, even without the oil. The weapons now used in this conflict will be replaced. The thousands of millions of dollars of private profit, payed by with public money. The buildings and basic services, destroyed by the bombings and plunders, will be the targets of good businesses (already anounced) to enterprises directly to the mob that today rules USA. The very own artefacts of the plundered museums will be business, that would never be sold if culture wasnt a business.
To the imperialist powers its good that third world countrys stay destroyed, useless and weak, at the hands of criminal Mafias that "maintain order" and the loyalty of the people, while their countries are exploited by the great "western-democratic" Godfather.
It's the same in Kosovo, Afghanistam, Serbia (were a fascist mob is being installed, at the command of the White House of course!). By the USA the same will happen in Iraq. And they are already threatening with new Blitzkrieg wars. the true nature of this "Ali Babá" capitalism is at sight!.
This war and plunder comes with new quantative leaps of repression. Notice what happened in this war to the "non aligned" jornalists and that aren't under the banner of the imperial power: people being fired (Peter Arnett); physical agressions (Luís Castro and his collegues), murderers (Hotel Palestina, al-Jazeera). Its "notes" to take in account.
But there is a decisive factor that doesnt enter the imperialist plans and yet it is already a evident reality in Iraq: The popular resistance. At this terrible moment in its history, the Iraqi people are giving a lesson of valour, dignity and courage to the entire world with its growing revolt against the colonial presence. And this is true humanity!"
