Hello comrades,
I am seeking some life advice. I dropped out of high school in my junior year and subsequently went to community college for two years. I've just turned 21 and I am currently enrolled in Williams College in Williamstown Massachusetts. I am designing my own major built around social justice. After I graduate I am looking to attend Harvard Law School and study in their Law and Social Change department. Now, I know what you're thinking: "This is a sellout/reformist if I've ever seen one." I would respectfully beg to differ. First of all, though it does not speak directly to my capacity (or lack thereof) for selling out or abandoning my radical beliefs, both my family and I have very little money. Williams is paying 80% of my bill, and I am still going to have to take out loans to pay the remaining 20%. Moreover, I am not looking to get rich from my education. I know that in order to do the good that I know that I need to, I will not be become wealthy - but that was never my goal. My reasoning for attending these schools, is so that I may gain their credibility, thus granting me a wider audience for my arguments and making those arguments harder to discount out of hand. My question for you is this: where is a freshly minted (pardon the expression, har har) lawyer, most needed? Where can I leech the most money from the system to fund the radical causes that will bring about its demise? How can I bring down the most capitalists and elevate the most workers?
Thank you for your advice,
AM
