Hello,

I'm Evan (эван) I am a 17 year old from Australia who is interested in developing an in depth understanding of communism & socialism as well as the relationship between these ideologies and others. I am currently teaching myself Russian and reading whatever I can on communism (at the moment I'm reading 'The Economic Organization of War Communism, 1918-1921')

I enjoy reading books and information on the internet that further develops my understanding of communism, sociology, politics, history and I would like to go study law and political science at university when I am eligible to do so.

I believe that the fall of the USSR was the greatest geopolitical catastrophe of the century and I would like to teach my peers at school about communism as they are made ignorant by our education system. :(

I hope I can make good progress as well as share my ideas and thoughts and any problems I come across. Thank you comrades.

Hahaha. Don't go fetishizing the USSR, now. Keep an objective, scientific view of things.

Welcome to the Forums! :)

Welcome aboard!

Study of the Russian Revolution is vital for any Marxist-Leninist, but you should also devote time to the study of the revolutions of China and Cuba, to examine how the ideas of Lenin were developed outside of the Soviet Union.

The Cuban Revolution in particular is of great interest to myself. I believe that Cuba, alongside its Latin American allies, carries forward the banner of socialism in a world dominated by a vicious imperialist system. It has demonstrated what socialism can bring to a people even in a country which has suffered an illegal blockade for almost 50 years.

the first thing you need to learn is that the ussr was not communist or socialist, it was a state capitalist. The same applies to china, cuba etc

I most stongly disagree, I cant think of anything that did more harm to socialism than the ussr

The intention behind the creation of the state was to make a true communist society, this was an admirable idea. The possibility of a true communist society developing within the framework of the USSR were lost with the dissolution of the USSR.

Before i contest that statement could you elaborate on how the USSR harmed socialism, please recognize too that it helped socialism as well :(

The possibility of a true communist society developing within the framework of the USSR

Thats not compatable. The very idea of a communism existing within a state structure is a contradiction.

I wasn't advocating communism developing within a state structure, but true communism manifesting from the USSR.
