its a sad day when a good, honest dictator gets dragged through the mud for being anything other than a ruler who imposes a supreme form of government. his sexual practices, past or present, should hvae no bearing on his position.

two implications are made. one: saddam is more bad than ever before because he is involved in gay porn. two: gays are akin to dictatorship.

its an old poisoning the well fallacy. like when the capitalists called communists "pinko's". by calling communists gays they hoped that others wouldn't become communists for fear of being called gay and that communists would submit and stop practicing(communism) becuase the popular opinion became one where they were considered homos exual.

Exactly, it's a very poweful move by kuwait actually. even a-religious people there would, if they believe it, hate saddam. The first thing my parents said when I was caught for weed was "quit and tell none of our relatives" then they proceeded to tell me that it was as if I was gay. I neglected to tell them that I didn't have their view of "evil gay people". But yes, the middle east is exactly like America in the fifties. Nowhere was I able to openly declare my communism without fear of government attack the last time I went there.

the intended impression, i guess, is that saddam is a totally evil person. he supposedly gassed kurds. he was supposedly a dictator. and now he is supposedly gay too. its the shot gun effect. don't bother aiming, just point and fire. one of these shards has got to work.

(on a less funny note, Isreal actually beams that kind of stuff into the West Bank and Gaza on open channels to try and offend the values of the locals, puritan or not it's just plain wrong to subject kids to that)

I mean the hottest rumour now in certain parts of the Middle East is apparently that Saddam is in the CIA headquarters in the USA, and helped plan the entire attack with the Americans. People come up with funny ideas in coffeehouses when emotions are running high...
