howdy, i'm in the u.s.a. and i'm not exactly sure how to categorize myself, i just know i'm on the left. i think the most accurate description of myself would be as a libertarian leftist with social anarchist leanings. or perhaps i am a social anarchist with libertarian leftist leanings. either way, i reserve the right to change my mind about whatever labels are best to use as far as my own political viewpoint is concerned, but suffice it to say, i am sick and tired of the bi-partisan system that we have here in this country, it drives me nuts that people think of republicans and democrats as "opposites" when they are really just the same salad under two different salad dressings, i am disgusted with how all the power seems to be possessed not by the voters, but by a social and political elite, a prestigious and priviledged oligarchy, and i hope that someday the human species - not just americans, but all people everywhere - can evolve far enough to completely outgrow any need for government. because quite frankly i don't think the current system is working.
it is good to find a place where leftists can talk and get away from the righty-tighties. in my area of the states i am surrounded by them, and thanks to the electoral college, my state is pretty much sure to be won by the republicans, which makes me sick and almost makes me not want to vote. the issue of voting is something i am still tackling, i'm not quite sure what position i should take on it. all i know is, it pisses me off that my vote will be rendered meaningless if i vote for anyone other than the republicans. just for once i would like a third party to win the presidency, because i absolutely hate false dichotomies, and the democrat/republican dualism is one of the very worst false dichotomies i can think of in contemporary affairs.
