Ok, basically I'm debating for the abolition of the British Monarchy at my debating society and was wondering if anyone here had any sites with statistics and such on it.
Also your general reasons for the abolition of this institution are welcome.

Why worship British Monarchy ? The monarchy is of the past and is hierarchy and authoritative.It worships the rich and aristocratic.

We are for poor and do away of monarchy,hierarchy,aristocratic,class and give the poor power to rule not some aristocratic who rule.

People, I was asking predominatly for statistics, for example how much does the tourism the British Royal Family produce amount to economically, opposed to the money spent on their up keep.

Surely the sole reason for the existence of the British monarchy isn't the tourism it attracts. I guess its a cultural thing, in which case it could be hard to argue. In my country, it's possible for your queen to dissolve the government and do other crazy things like that, but in our case we should simply secede from the commonwealth.

One source they probably won't challenge is the Bible; in 1 Samuel chapter 8, the Israelites demand God to give them a king where before they had none and God warns them that a king will basically fuck them up.

For contemporary language I'd use the Message translation but the New Living Translation and New International Version work pretty well too.

It wont win the entire thing but its good ammunition. I'd also add that since the monarchy doesnt really do anything, its a waste of tax dollars (or pounds).
