The union of ethnic minorities in the met recently released an advert telling people of ethnic minorities to avoid joining the police force. Personally i think this is a stupid, rash and unhelpful move which will only serve to alienate people from their cause.
Having seen the reaction of people on BBC news, the general concensus (be it right or wrong) is that it's not true. An email from an anglo-indian police officer claimed that she had never received any racism and was fully supported by her superiors.
JUst wanted to know what peoples opinions on this our. Personally i think that although there may well be problems within the met, that this was clearly not a good way to deal with it and it is grossly irresponsible of them to place an advert so publicly telling people not to join the police.
