View Full Version : Where are the terrorists? - In Iraq

Xvall

When the war started; we were told that Saddam Hussein (A secular infidel, in the eyes of Osoma Bin Laden) was constructing nuclear weapons; and that there were tons of terrorists in Iraq that hated good, hard-working, Americans like us. We were told that first chance they got; the barbaric population of Iraq would do whatever they could to destroy the United States. Now we are being shown videos of massive liberation demonstrations (50-75 Shiite teenagers tearing down a statue) and told that the Iraqis just love us. As a matter of fact; everyone forgot about the whole terrorism/weapon thing in the first place. Explenation?

Drake, my friend, there is no explanation.

The US government has twisted things for their own gain.

Peep this:

9/11/01: The US is attacked by terrorists. The death toll is later estimated to be 3,000.

The months following: Al-queda and Osama bin Laden are accused of planning and carrying out the attacks. The search for bin Laden is started and the US attacks Afganistan.

2002: The search for bin Laden is fruitless but the US manages to topple the Taliban gov't of Afganistan. Growing fears of more terrorism mount. President George W. Bush declares the axis of evil--Iraq, Iran, and N. Korea.

9/2002: Regime change in Iraq becomes established US governmental policy. Iraq is declared by the US to have weapons of mass destruction.

11/2002: UN inspectors return to Iraq to continue implementation of UN resolution 1440.

1/2003: US and Britain claim that despite inspector disagreement--Iraq has weapons of mass destruction.

2/2003: Bush tries to link Iraq and Saddam with Al-queda (even though al-queda and osama disagree with Saddam).

3/2003: Pre-emptive war is waged on Iraq by a coalition led by the US and UK who claim the goal is to liberate the Iraqi people.

4/2003: Iraq UN official acceptes defeat.

We went from a war on terrorism to becoming world liberators. Does this make sense to anyone? Where are the ties? This is just too close to 1984 its scary.

There is the weapon grade plutonium. But that's still being tested.

Eliminating Saddam is part of his war on terror.

"the barbaric population of Iraq would do whatever they could to destroy the United States."

This was never said.

I have read similar things in bush speeches. Something like "The brutal dictatorship in Iraq cannot stand; it is a threat to our very existence as free people in this world"

I think eliminated all of America's nukes, and shutting down all of their landmine factories, destroying their stores of chemical and biological weapons, as well as all missiles the fire over 150 km, all aggressive boats, their air force, and limit their army to 100 000 men, no tanks, would do a great deal to end terror in this world. (Those numbers are a combination of the Treaty of Versailles and what has been imposed on Iraq)

The terrorists were in the north of the country and destroyed by the Kurds early on. Ansar Al Islam they were called...funded by Saddam, had links to Al Qaeda.

Orwellian Irony at its best, when examining our relations with Iraq I can't help but recall the changing alliances in 1984. Worker: "I thought Iraq was our ally combating Islamic radicals for us" Boss: "No Iraq WERE the radical islamists all along!"

LOL, you have it EXACTLY upside down. Read up on it, the Ansar al-Islam is a Kurd movement in the north of Iraq, an area Saddam hasn't controled since '91.

ansar-islam is anti-saddam, so i dont think they are getting money from him. The leader of ansar-islam is in Norway thats little bit cool, but he is of course enemy of the communist, and the kurds in norway hate him realy good so he are not even populer by the kurds.

But aren't Ansar almost 90% made up of Kurds though?

Dhul Fiqar,

http://www.csmonitor.com/2002/0315/p01s04-wome.html

"Since, Ansar al-Islam has nearly doubled in size to 700, including Iraqis, Jordanians, Moroccans, Palestinians, and Afghans – a composition similar to the multinational Al Qaeda network. Villagers here claim it has ransacked and razed beauty salons, burned schools for girls, and murdered women in the streets for refusing to wear the burqa. It has seized a Taliban-style enclave of 4,000 civilians and several villages near the Iran border."

I know they're at war with the PKU and have recruited foreign fighters, but it's still a Kurdish group, operating out of Kurdistan.

Abu Abdallah al-Shafi'i and Mullah Krekar are Kurds, no?

The fact remains that Ansar al-Islam teritory was bombed by the US and overun by Kurds

Dhul Fiqar

The fact remains that Oklahoma City was bombed by Americans.

Just because you're of a certain ethnicity doesn't mean you speak for that entire community. Ansar is a Kurdish group, so is the PKU. They fought, the PKU had air support and won.

Actually, I was reading this morning that the uranium that was found was very low grade, not weapons grade. Furthermore, the inspectors had visited the site often and had placed seals on the containers to keep track of them.

They did say that the uranium there could be enriched, but it would be expensive and take quite a while.

This was never said.

It basically was. The media told us that Iraq was a country of vast anti-american sentiment. They showed pictures of Iraqis devoted to Saddam Hussein and showed us pictures of Iraqis burning American flags in the streets; parating with pictures of American soldiers being ground up in some cartoonish manner. Now we are being told that they love us.

This is what I said and you relpied with this:

"LOL, you have it EXACTLY upside down. Read up on it, the Ansar al-Islam is a Kurd movement in the north of Iraq, an area Saddam hasn't controled since '91."

Why?

I did say that it was still being tested. Obviously it's finite test said it was low grade. Probably the stuff we gave them for their nuclear power plants.

I do remember all that. Back when Clinton bombed Iraq, to make us be ok with it they told us that the Iraqis hate us, and were complete barbarians. Now they love us, told to us so that we will support the war now. Am I sensing a bit of a controled mass media? Nazi Germany continues to come back.

With Saddam in power all you could hear was the pro-saddam anti-american sentiment. Now that he and his party are out of the picture, the true feelings of the (majority of) Iraqi people are coming out.

I did like the man running out with the plotted plant. But apparently; some of them are getting a little out of hand. Burning buildings probably isn't the best thing to do in a crippled country.

This is not a messy end to a three year civil war or something, this was supposed to be the most perfectly planned military operation in history. Yet they haven't even got any plans to uphold the basic requirements of the Geneva convention (not protecting Hospitals with armed units is a violation of that agreement, if you didn't know).

What are you talking about Dhul??
The Geneva convention tells them to protect oil wells with armed unit in a war situation like this one!
