You don't have to be a Michael Moore fan to completely denounce the politics and message behind this film. The film is a vicious satire of left-liberal filmmaker Michael Moore (often using personal insults and his obesity) but more than that it makes rather stupid generalizations of activists, minorities, Islam and the so called "War on Terror". From what I have seen this movie is advertised heavily on talk radio and Fox News; ie appealing to the most backward and reactionary elements of society. From stereotyping Muslims, activists, rampant homophobia, and an almost fascistic embrace and deference to militarism. I hope the film flops with all my heart.

From what I read...it sounds crappy (the plot that is) and should be a flop.
If the film doesn't flop I lose all hope!

Lincoln's war stopped slavery? GIVE ME A BREAK. As if slavery would have lasted another decade. Lincoln's little war which he himself admitted was not about slavery, forestalled an inevitable revolution of landless whites and enslaved blacks.
Churchill appeased Hitler? Well so did FDR and Truman! Maybe we shouldn't have given material support to Franco, Hitler, and Mussolini in the '20s and '30s eh?
Only an idiot would think our Presidents ever sacrificed for the good of "the country". There may have been ones here and there who denounced the system and denounced capitalism, but they're the ones who couldn't accomplish much, the ones who quietly fade from the footnotes of high school textbooks.

This is interesting.
Do you have any info related to this that I could look at?

Howard Zinn's A People's History hints at this strongly. There is some info on this online, but I'd be weary, since a lot of the people who follow my line also believe the South was the spitting image of a gentlemen society, the masters were benevolent, and so forth.
The war was about control and cotton and party power. There were two definite sides to the Reconstruction.
Also, the war galvanized Dixie patriotism and created class unity, as invasive wars tend to do. Some of your liberals and conservatives will say the South started the first battles, but this is only a technicality, really, since Lincoln made clear his intent to "reunite" the nations and subvert the Constitution. The South did not engage in sieges, terrorism, or total war. Nor did the South have massive ghettos or race riots. The hypocrisy of saying the North was the good guys is staggering. There were many Dixies who fought unrelated to slavery just as there were Northern general who likewise didn't care about the issue.
Though, of course, many racists did fight. It is interesting to note the example Zinn gives of an ex Confederate officer at a meeting of the Farmer's Alliance or some lefty thing who introduced a black man as a fine gentleman or something like that. Indeed, the Populist Movement, before it was subverted by Dems and the GOP, was a spontaneous rising of Southern radicalism and the best antidote for racism the South ever had. The banging of a gavel requires that a generation grow up from scratch to not be racist. History has shown that. While it is necessary, of course, to desegregate, it did not make existing people any less racist. Only with a generation of people who grew up in the wake of civil rights did things change much.
The power of leftism to unite fellow humans is astounding. In the documentary Harlan County USA (1976) a year-long coal strike is taped. During that time the company thugs try to sow seeds of racism to no avail. In the redneck areas those goddamn liberals love to demonize (thereby increasing support for their rival the GOP and perpetuate endless party war of "we're the lesser evil"), a woman yelled to the thugs brandishing the word "nigger" with "That 'nigger' is more of a man than you'll ever be". At the clinic for men with (pardon the pun) black lung, one man commented "...but when we come out of those mines we're all the same color."
