When you consider that FDR tried to implement fascism via the New Deal and that those who tried to overthrow him were actually capitalists, I'd hardly call this "a fascist coup." Particularly when the guy who blew the whole thing up was the notorious asshole Smedley Butler!

"Particularly"? What does Butler have to do with the question of whether or not the plot was organized by fascist sympathizers?

The first time I had ever heard about the plot to overthrow FDR, was when former Speaker of the House, John McCormack mentioned it when he spoke at my high school, back in the early 1970s.

The story of the plot was certainly not in our history textbooks, and I suspect
you wouldn't find it in today's high school history textbooks either.

Butler was the Pat Buchanan of his day. Six of one, half a dozen of another.

Implement fascism? FDR had some authoritarian actions in place via instituting executive orders and stacking the bench, but I think he was genuinely committed to maintaining the liberal republic.

I'm amused that Prescott Bush took part in this attempt.

Prescott Bush, didn't he fund the Nazis?

That's the one. Bush family also had a lot of businesses with Nazi Germany in general. It's great material to stick in a Zionist's face, considering how they drool over George W. Bush.

Actually the CPUSA of the Third Period made statements to the effect that Roosevelt was the American Hitler or Mussolini. That is, right before they fell into unquestioning support of his administration during the Fourth Period.
