Here's the truth guys. You just can't believe that Gore lost fairly. You see, it doesn't matter if Bush would have gotten 1 million votes and Gore 200 million. You have to have 270 electoral votes to win, and this was not the first time this has happened, it was the 3rd time I believe. Bush was elected by the procedures laid out in the US constitution, a document which you hate so much. Let me explain it to you leberals one more time so you see how he won the election fair and square.

Since it was so close in Fl which was the state that would put one or the other in the lead, they both contested it. But since the democrats wanted to keep counting over and over until they got the results they wanted (because since it was so close, and due to human error, it's possible that during one of the countings Gore would come out ahead), the republicans took it to the US Supreme court so they could ****stop the counting and accept the present results which showed Bush the winner after several attempts by the democrats to recount in their favor****. It was not taken to the Supreme court to they could declare who would win. They simply ruled on wether it was legal for the counting to continue for so long, they didn't rule on who would win.

Also, if I remember right Gore was trying to have the votes of servicemen overseas discounted because he knows that military usually vote republican.

And as an extra bonus, there were several independant studies done afterwards by diff newspapers that all concluded that Bush indeed did win the most votes in Fl.

Guys, about the 7.62 x 39 Russian vs 5.56 Nato, it doesn't really matter which is more powerful. The energy they deliver is similar, and it's plenty to kill a person with a single shot. Either one of these will go right through a bullet proof vest (all high power rifle calibers do as far as I know). Remember the belt way snipers in DC? That was a 5.56 mm and they killed 12 out of 13 victims all with a single shot. That's pretty deadly. Since you don't need such a big, heavy bullet, you can carry more bullets with you in the field if they are smaller like the 5.56 mm, and I think that was the main reason to switch to 5.56mm Nato. Before that they had the .308 which is 7.62mm Nato which is a 7.62 x 51mm and delivers a lot more energey that either the 7.62 x 39mm Russ or the 5.56 Nato. In WWII they used the 30.06 which is even bigger (7.62mm x 63mm) and at that time all countries used calibers that could bring down big game like the 30.06, 8mm, 7.62 x 54mm Russ, but it wasn't necessary.

The 5.56 is basicly a .22 (.223), but heavier than most .22s. It's anywhere from about 52 grains to as much as 80 grains for match versions. And it has a good amount of powder behind it. I moves at around 3,100fps. The 7.52 x 39 Russian is slower, around 2,300 fps but the bullet ways twice as much as the 5.56. The energy delivered is a formula of the fps and the weight of the bullet (grains). With the above specs the 7.62 Russian delivers around 1445 ft-lbs of energy and the 5.56 delivers around 1280. The .308 delivers 2,600 ft-lbs (twice as much as the 5.56mm). If the beltway snipers had used a rifle of this caliber, the 13th victim would probably not have lived. And the 30.06 delivers around 2,800 ft-lbs of energy, even more than the .308. The .308 (7.62mm) was used early in Vietnam in the m14 and the 5.56mm Nato was used later in Vietnam and is used to this day in the m16.

The ak47 is not the most sophisticated and powerfull assault rifle in the history of small arms. Look at the balistics. The m14 (conceived in the 60s) which uses the 7.62 x 51 is more powerful and a better weapon than your pewny ak47 (conceived in the 40s) 7.62 x 39. The ak47 is the most prolific because any communist country or anti American country in the world was given ak47s by the USSR. If they hate the US, they get a ship full of aks and ammo.

As far as body armor, why wouldn't you wear that if it's available to you. You'd be stupid not to. Also, I think that's called a flak jacket. It may not be for stopping small arms fire, but instead for stoping grenade fragments from hitting you. It's just an extra protective device like the helmet. Why do the commies wear helmets? See the US is way ahead of the rest of the world, that's why they know that wearing a flak jacket is good for the troops.

As far as upgradng weapons, that's why we went to the m14 and then to the m16, both from the 60s. You guys are using a rifle from the 40s. By the way, the Russians finally saw that our approach to weaponry was best and they then came out with the 5.45mm ak74. See chiak47s earlier post. So they followed our lead once more.
