In Defense of France - reasons they did not want war

If the French attacked the Middle East, they might have to face suicide bombers in their own country. There could be bombs exploding on Paris streets. I thought I would introduce this perspective.

Ymir, I heard that also and it might be true, but it's not the main reason france doesn't want to take action. They are hiding something.

Well also, you have to understand that the majority of the french (an overwhelming majority) are against the war, the muslim view happens to coincide with the majority.

I don't think that the main reason for the french government to oppose to this war is the muslim community.
This is maybe one of the reasons but the true reasons, in my opinion, are: to protect french interests in iraq and to reinforce europe(especially france and germany)opposing to the u$a(through the united nations) .
Both have failed.

Dont take your leader's road and act stupid. Thing is Americans want all to live in peace and we take it as a slap in the face from France. As we spent our money and labor and blood to liberate France. We then in return being our nature helped Germany and Japan rebuild.

I never said that was the main reason why they are against the war, only that it is one of their concerns. And we have no reason to invade at all. If the French government is so worried about oil contracts and weapon deals, then why are the average people marching in the streets? Why do the people oppose this war?

I'm can see the argument that France is doing what its people want, but lets remember the government influences what people think. So this isn't a very strong argument.

I'm not going to defend France because its just another America or Britain, just with less economic, military and political power. If France had what America had, it would act the same way.

I put it down to their interests, same with Russia. It really is all about oil with these two...

Remember - they are all capitalist countries. Its a conflict of market interests; thus we have a falling out.
