Social-Technocracy?

Can someone explain what this is to me?

I know we have a few prominent members on RevLeft who adhere to this. Is it just the belief that socialism will become more easily attainable through the progression of more and more advanced technology that can increase the aquisition and handle the distribution of resources?

Or is it like, literally a society totally run by machines?

I only know little bits and pieces about technocracy. Like I heard somewhere that instead of trading currency, the economy would be based off the trade of pure energy.

Anyway, its totally above my head, so heres to hoping someone can explain this to me :)

I think some people have overly caught on with the "social" prefix and the "-cracy" suffix. ;)

A group called the Technocracy Incorporated (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Technocracy_Incorporated) using statistics came to similar conclusions as Marx when it came to criticizing capitalism.
