Would any of you here go on record and admit... Admit that there are certain ethnicities, cultures and races who feel are far more superior than the rest or just one in particular? For example the whole Sunni vs Shia muslim on going conflict, or the Nazi vs whoever is not arian...
Are there certain countries who are more nationalistic and chauvinist than others?
I year or so ago... I received heavy criticism and I was even called a racist, because I voiced concern of having encounter many unprovoked confrontations with a certain group of people form a certain country.
Despite my efforts to ask this question in a 'diplomatic manner' with an open mind to learn more about these people and their history... I was bombarded with names and all sort of ignorant comments.
I let 'by gones be by gones' FINE. Never again though Did I voice any negative opinions towards that group of people, EVER not even when others would try to get me into a conversation about "what big assholes they are"
Last night I was hanging out with some friends from Syria and Lebanon, And out of nowhere one of them started to talk negative about that group of people... "they think they are better than everyone, I cant stand them" and Her friend agreed, "yes i know they act like the world owes them something."
I heard them and told them not to talk like that about other people.. "what you never had a problem with them?"
You know what? I have but I have also met really nice ones. Your argument is baseless. You can say that about anyone.. "some are assholes, some are nice, or most of them are jerks or most of them are ok" it can go both ways for everyone.
"it's because you aren't Arab" that's what they told me. :confused:
I'm Mexican, and I've always thought we were far better than anyone south of us. Obviously I don't think that way anymore. But I used to... It was instilled in us. from a young age. Not in a Nazi way though, But in mild patriotism kind of way.
This sick attitude shows its face sadly during international football matches. I was at the game between Mexico and Chile, and the Mexican side rained objects at the Chilean fans. They were even pissing in cups and flinging them towards them. some of the were with their wifes, GF and even kids. It was a sad sad and shameful spectacle.
What about Croatia? Haven't they been warned and fined by FIFA for their racism towards black players? I mean such a large portion of the stadium chanting "Monkey"??? at a black player? :confused:
