I'm writing a post because I will be presenting my viewpoints this coming Tuesday on why I don't agree with McCain and Obama/the two-party system. I'm representing third/no affiliation party, and I realize I will be sharply criticized by both people representing both other candidates. I have a few valid ideas I'd like to point out about both candidates:
Support of Israel and Foreign Policy
Tax Policy(Mccain-Continuation of Bush Policy, Obama's not feasible in our financial crisis)
Republican-Democrats largely responsible for the current crises
Two Party System-very marginal affair
These are a few i've brainstormed, can anyone possibly give me some input on what else I can discuss?

What he can discuss in his upcoming presidential election debate. He represents the third party.

1. I'd discuss the Federal Reserve's manipulation of interest rates and its consistent production of worthless money, but economics in this tier are often hard to understand. If you're talking to a bunch of rational individuals, fine. If they are likely all closed-minded, then I would avoid the topic. I fear the latter.
2. Note how our foreign policy and outrageous military spending is, broadly speaking, throwing our economy into the shambles of debt which we cannot repay. If we spent even a fraction of our military spending on rebuilding our decimated welfare programs and removing clutter from the budget, this nation would soar higher than most could ever imagine.
3. Continue to hit them with the similarities between the two candidates. Afghanistan, reckless spending, Iran, pro-Israel, spending and so on. People fail to realize the similarities between the candidates. As amazing as it is to some people, they are almost virtually identical.
4. Destruction of our civil liberties, in the form of the Patriot Act, FISA, NSA wiretapping, the War on Terror and the absurd and mostly imagined threat of Islamic terrorism.
Those should serve you pretty well.

pretty much what kassad said lol.
i would try to get as much knowledge as you can on patriot act, etc. as you can, and look up h.r. 1955, its a bill in congress thats even worse than the patriot act and is sure to piss people off.
and our reckless spending is a sure win topic too.
good luck

If you're arguing from a point of view which upholds the belief in bourgeois representative government I would point out that a political system based on Duverger's law isn't practical since it prohibits a discourse on opinions beyond the narrow boundaries the two parties represent. Simply put; not every opinion can fall under either Democrat or Republican and even people who don't fall under these two camps should deserve representation in government.
Also add that the problem with the low quality of political discourse in the US is especially because of this. When half of the political system like the Republicans is insane and without any merit the media can't even point this out since it would jeopordize the legitimacy of the bourgeois electoral system. This ties in with the whole right-wing accusation that the media has a liberal bias and such.
Good luck.

I would point out that both parties believe that freedom of the press only belongs to those who own one. Neither party believes everyone should have as much access to the editorial decisions in the mass media as the filthy rich.
