The USA Patriot Act, passed in October 2001 after the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
Is this nessecary, or is it an unfair erosion of civil liberties?
I think you know my views..

Very long, and disturbing... At least to me.
And to think there's Patriot Act II on it's way...

I'm warry of it. Eventually I'd like to see it repealed by at least 2008.

The Patriot II however, I'm completely against.

Something like 9//11 had to happen soon or later, the shame is how many died (civilians).

Why is this?

I had a look at the act. I thought you were a relatively authoritarian capitalist Dark Capitalist, not a neo-liberal. The only reason I can think that you oppose this act is the way it compromises judicial constitution, freedom and democracy; in the interests of security.

Personally, I think we should start applying this law against sabotage. Don't worry it's not in the dreaded Patriot Act.

Title 18, Part 1, Chapter 105

(a) Whoever, when the United States is at war, or in times of national emergency as declared by the President or by the Congress, with intent to injure, interfere with, or obstruct the United States or any associate nation in preparing for or carrying on the war or defense activities, or, with reason to believe that his act may injure, interfere with, or obstruct the United States or any associate nation in preparing for or carrying on the war or defense activities, willfully injures, destroys, contaminates or infects, or attempts to so injure, destroy, contaminate or infect any war material, war premises, or war utilities, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than thirty years, or both.

(B) If two or more persons conspire to violate this section, and one or more of such persons do any act to effect the object of the conspiracy, each of the parties to such conspiracy shall be punished as provided in subsection (a) of this section.
