in some of my readings lately, I came across a piece written by Zinn talking about the Eisenhower administration and how he set up a commission to report on the anti-american sentiment of those people representing the countries of the middle east, (back in the mid to late 50's), the report concluded that much of this sentiment is directly related to US foreign policies, that the repression casued by inserting puppet regimes that colluded with US intrest was the determining factor.
Now why cannot we admit that these attacks of terrorist aggression stem from the root of the seeds we are sowing within our international relations? How can we sit here and say that september 11 was sprung from one man's insanity, I think the reality of the world is too horrendous for many of us to imagine so we;d rather watch CNN and feel good about the war from a far. How can there be any real justification for war in Iraq, if not to further continue these terrorist policies that are to our economic and political gain. The Operation 'Iraqi Freedom' is a falsehood. It will casue further stress on the faultlines of East and West relations, that will explode right in our faces. And for those who hold some optimistic altruistic view that perhaps today, in this new millenium, Bush and fellow cohorts are trying to tubula rasa the whole scene, and legitimely insert democracy into an opressed Iraq, please wake up and smell Dubya's asshole cause oil is just spurting from his brown starfish. Where does Bush come from, Cheney and his Haliburton buddies?
Well enough ranting, it's been a while since I posted on this bored (sp. correct). But when do we accept responsibilty, why do we spur so much violence and aggression, for a country that is supposed to be the beacon of Freedom? How do we parade around selling the very ideas that we act against? When will we rise against this hipocrisy and just speak the truth? For bloody sake, we gave Sadamm the Key to Detroit...Im not interested in giving all the power to one NAtion, especially when that nation is the one with the most WMD and the only ones to have ever used them.
peace, and wut up homey, (AK)
