I am definately not new, but I realised I never got around to introducing myself.
I am Su'ad. I'm 24, and I live in Detroit, and I work for Detroit Public Library's Philosophy & Religion department, where I spend my time cataloguing/organizing books all day.
I'm influenced by both radical leftist and post-structuralist thinkers, although my political leaning is more towards anarchist.

Hi, comrade.
I never had an intro thread either....probably make one in the future when I'm a more interesting person...

Hi I didn't make an intro thread either, maybe I'll do it when I get board.
Is that your name there? if it is you should edit it out, it's not good to be easily identified with websights like this.

It's only a 1st name...
Some people have placed their full names (for this they sometimes get their post edited) and some have real pictures of themselves in their profiles.

Yes, that is my real name.
Considering I'm Arab, I'm an anarchist, and I'm a librarian who signed a declaration refusing to comply with CIA requests; I am pretty sure the government already has me on more than a few watch lists. Being associated with RevLeft is the least of my worries.
And as for white supremacist or neo-nazi groups go; I'd really like to see them try to harrass me in Brightmoor or nearly anywhere else in Detroit.
(Thanks for your concern however.)

I wonder if I'm in any watch list...
probably not.
Although allegedly my parents probably were, at least my mom, for associating (i.e merely talking, probably being friends with) with independentistas.

I used to post on it occasionally... but one time I made a post describing how Immanuel Kant is/was an overrated philosopher, and how many (if not all) of his ideas were plagiarized from an Italian woman philosopher, named Christine Pisan, and it was moved to the Opposing Ideologies thread. Also I made a pretty impassioned post about some east African philosophers and their theories one time, and very few people gave it any interest at all.
So I decided to part with the Philosophy forum, in favor of the Discrimination forum, where people didn't act like I was an "over-reacting" feminist or like Marx, Nietzche, and the other "great white fathers" were the only people who've ever had an original idea in their brains.
I will definately give it another shot, though...

If only I can muster more interest into philosophy, then I would find this change very interesting.
One thing that I noticed of that forum is that it's always about the same stuff over and over again! dialectics vs Rosa (no offense to Rosa), "how much we love Nietzsche, Sartre, or etc philosopher", etc. Actually, I would have loved to see the thread in which you say Kant is over-rated (I like it when people bring down overly respected "luminaries", like Nietzsche, especially if they have a valid point/arguement.)
One thing I really noticed was that it seemed no one asked what's the social history of philosophy (if it has any social uses like ruling class justification), so I posted a thread on that. But it didn't last long (maybe no one cares about any thread I make...:crying:).
