Update:
Mina al-Bakr export terminal ready for lifting
The Iraqi oil export terminal Mina al-Bakr at the northern end of the Persian Gulf was neither sabotaged nor damaged by the invading US & UK forces and is ready to resume operations, according to a US Navy spokesman today. The terminal was taken on the first day of the conflict.
According to the spokesman, there were signs of an attempt at sabotage and explosives were found, but the facility remains unharmed. A mine clearing operation is underway in the vicinity of the terminal platform, however, but none have been found to date.

The UK forces occupying Iraq's Rumalia Field in the southern part of the country bordering Kuwait have once again secured the field so that well firefighters can reenter to commence work. Halliburton's KBR project manager on the scene said that six wells continue to burn. Reports are that the sandstorm that raged across much of Iraq yesterday and last night extinguished three of the well fires, leaving only three more to be put out by the assembled specialists.
Kuwait Petroleum Company spokesman Sheikh Talal Khaled al Sabah said it will now only take three to seven days to tap out the last well fires. The KBR-contracted Boots & Coots International Well Control team is expected to work with the firefighters from Kuwait in putting out these last fires once the weather clears.
Across the border in Kuwait, the Kuwait Petroleum Company has restarted its 50,000 b/d Ratqa Field, an extension of Iraq's Rumalia Field. This is expected to return Kuwait's output capacity to about 2.4 million b/d within a few days. The nearby Abdali Field continues to remain closed, however. They were both closed as a precaution prior to the US invasion.
Good news.Maybe the $1.82 gal I'm paying will drop to $1.20 gal
