I am a union member, er was. My father ownes his own construction company. He was also a union member (IBEW) and made me pay dues when I worked for him. I carried sacks of cement, I nailed roofing tiles in the middle of summer, I pulled cable standing on scaffolds, etc. I never want to do that work again. Guys who can pull that off I have the utmost respect for.

How many commies here are part of the working class? Which class do you belong to? Are you a common laborer? Are you part of an elite class? Are you something in the middle?

I worked for my provincal Government in the summer, and was under the coverage of the provincal union until January, and I will be working at the same park again this summer.

I cleaned shitters, brushed trails, hulled dirt to sinkholes in the roads and fixed them, I cut grass, I swept walk ways, I built barriers so cars didn't park on a swamp or ceptic tank, fixed outhouse drainage systems, and painted copious amounts of buildings.

Currently I work retail under horrible conditions, but no one sees the need for a union as people are *****ed at for doing there job. I face shelves and stock them occassionaly. It is too easy and mindless. I cannot wait until school is over so I can get back to the real work. Where I can see what difference I make.

:edit: I also cleaned a sewage lagoon.

Hey Pete no wonder your so angry.
You have a shit job.Is that why you have fantasies about rising to the top of the reds?

Dude just put 1 in your forehead and kiss this life goodbye.I'm sure your loved ones will understand.

"He was a curious child, bless his heart" Is what they will say.

Hey Pete remember your not mad at me-your mad at your dad.

My summer job is amazing, regardless of what I do at it. I also pick up garabe. The atmosphere is awesome. My manager works with me. He takes the danger brush and cleans up after a particularly nasty AB and is just as likely as the rest of us to get Shit faced. Unlike my current job. Oh well.

I don't hate you, or my dad. Although you both have similar ideas. I just get angry at flaming comments or spam.

I do not think of rising to the top of the reds. That is a hypocritical wish for one to make. If you are truly red you will realize there should not be a top and do all you can to assure that does not happen.

I will not kiss this life or world good bye. It is cowardance to turn your back on your people (humanity would be the people of everyone who is alive) and I plan to accomplish something worthwhile with my life, to make others better. Unlike some people who seek personal gain, I do not want that.

Private property is theft.

And before you go on saying that I own stuff, one must learn to survive in the environment they live in so they can live to make a difference. And books are too good to pass up. I think I have atleast 10, more than that, on my desk right now. I have a savings account so I can hopefully pay for my university tution next year. Must work to get that, but the Liberals want to raise min wage to 8 bucks an hour. I'd be set with that. 40 hours a week. 5 days a week. 9 weeks. That is what? 3000 bucks? 500 more then last summer...could pull off tution yet. mwhahaha

I was speaking of the robbing banks.

Tution is 4000$ - 6000$ at most universities, sciences being higher of course.

I don't need sympathy. I am just really tired and awake at the same time (body tired, mind full speed ahead).

I'll get through shit. Look at it this way I write 4 kick ass essays I get 7000 bucks.

The cogs of capitalism are turning fast. The boiler is full of steam made from the sweat of millions of Hardworking Americans. The anchor that sets tyrants is raised and the guns that were just fired at the pirates whom tried to rob her are swabbed. The captain at the helm is pumped with BLUE blood and the crew that loves her is ready to start the next voyage.

GOD bless the USA

For every one who succeeds how many are crushed under the wheels? Ask your self that, look at teh sweat shops, look at all the homeless people. Then tell me that capitalism is best.

Wow!! I'm impressed!!!

Last time I talked about Union shops, I was attacked by your pal Stormin Norman (now ghost writer) who is very much anti unon labor!

I'm a plumber by trade, although I'm spending most of my time at the moment studying anthropology, I'm a member of the United Assosiation of Pipe Fitters and Plumbers of the United States and Canada. (UA) AFL-CIO

I also plan on doing an internship with the AFL-CIO some time.

I'm also a member of the IWW (industrial worker's of the world) You may not agree with them, but it's basicly a union that will represent anyone even the unemployed and students as long as you are not in charge of hiring and firing people.

I am mostly involved with them because the Green party that I do the bulk of my activism with, is not very organized when it comes to Labor issues.

If you know anything about American Labor history, you would know they are a militant labor organisation that at one time was very large and popular and held alot of power, because when they went in strike, they went on STRIKE! And in one case resulted in a war between workers and the national guard.

But we can thank militant unions, and great socialists and anachist (like the haymarket riots in Chicago) for the 8 hour work week, child labor laws, safty in the workplace, etc.

One of the major reasons why I believe in bringing socialism through the workplace and not the Governemnt (besides the corupt nature of all governments) is that most of the social progress that we experienced in the last 100+ years was through organized labor and grass roots socialist/anarchist movements.

The sweat shops are in China and other leftest controlled regions.

If the world became like the west is then we would all be put on a pay scale the was appropriate for the job's at hand.

There is no reason why there should be homeless here in the states. They are people who just gave up.If they were in a leftist country they would be forced to pick rocks out of farm fields or some stupid shit like that. And if they "gave up" on that they would be sent to some "re-educational" camp or worse-DEATH.

Chiak47: I don't know how to say this without it sounding like an insult... but for a union member, you actually know very little of the history of relations between labor and the Govt.

Labor and the Govt. have always been in competition, that's why unions today are weak shadows of their former selves, rendered fairly useless with mountains of anti-union laws.

If people are Unemployed because they are lazy, than the fact that over 8% of people in NYC are uneployed, and over 6% nation wide are uneployed... means there was a high influx of lazy people recently?

Maybe all the snow made people just not want to go out and get a job eh? Face it, capitalism NEEDS uneployed people to keep the wages down.

As for China.... please... China has sweat shops because it's cheaper for US retailers to go there and get labor for nonexistant wages, than to pay union wages in the US.

China is a shit hole, it may be someone's form of an ideal govt. but I've never seen even communists support China of today on this board..

And I'm no Communist.

Socialist countries don't have sweatshops. How many times do we have to tell you that China has gone capitalist?

1886 haymarket riots-Chicago.Big turn for the unions.
I left the union cause of thier political views.I refused to pay the extortion money each month and recieve anti gov lit.I was 18 making $19.19 an hr. I went to school learned a trade and came out ahead. All paid for by the leftist union.

BTW why do modern red's seperate themselves from ussr and china?

Because I'm not a communist. I never have been and never will be. I was a Democratic Socialist when I first came to this board. Which is a Marxist pre-soviet ideology.... now I lean more to anarchism.

EDIT: That's utter Bullshit saying Unions today are "anti-Govt" and "Leftist" Many unions here in NY supported the Republican candidate for Governer.

Red,I also noticed several unions "sponsoring" republican prospects. That should be a thread of it's own.
When I was in it it was pure democrap.

Democrats + Republcians = Republicrats

If you ask me they are both the same party these days. It doesn't matter what party they support these days, that's kinda my point.

And Bush had FTAA.

The republicans are no better, they want to take my tax dolars and spend them on tanks and bombs, take away civil liberties with "Homeland Security" and USA PATRIOT act"... create bigger Govt. by bulding more prisons and giving more executions while all along saying they are against big Govt.

I'm agianst all of it.

I'm for all that.Patriot act WILL sunset..
We are at war. They started it we have to prepare and roll with it.

Death penalty-I'm all for.
Homeland security dep't just combined all the branches of gov't into one so they can compare notes and keep in touch.

More crime=more prisons.Drags on society.

I am against FTAA simply because it will take jobs out of this country.

"NAFTA was a bad choice.Bill had no morals. "

NAFTA was a horrible choice. Bryan was thinking about his blueblooded friends.

"Cuba didnt...The reds in china and ussr turned thier backs on cuba cause they know it's a lost cause. "

Che was against the conditions in the CCCP and China because they took a turn away from Marxism. The leaders did not adhere to the ideology close enough for the likings of those who wished to. This is like thinking it is a disgrace that you, as a Capitalist, try to distance your self from Hitler Mussolini or Hirohiti (wathever his name is). They have (had) the same origins as you, but corrupted it along the way.
