Why is it everytime I talk to a socialist they condemn America's market economy yet they positvely express opinions towards Russia's "better" capitalist economy? What's with that? In case you're unaware the "glories" of the Soviet empire have collapsed and Russian society now is plagured with corruption and oligarchy. So I'm confused.....I really should understand this. Do Marxists support anything in opposition to America regardless of politics?

From my experience here at RevLeft, I've yet to see anyone praise Russia's current political or economic system. I imagine most of us are just as aware as you are that Russia is currently run by oligarchs, and its people are in shambles economically.

That's odd. It's quite different from me. I haven't yet heard a socialist say they dislike Russia's currect economic condition. I was talking to this one guy who spew out a bunch of Russian nationalism and said he was socialist? can you explain this?

dude I'm not lying. Why would I make this shit up? he clearly said something along the lines that "capitalism is better in Russia than it is in the US" and kept making up "facts" about how "good" Russia is even despite of having a corrupt economic system.

LOL...Why is this guy being accused as being a troll? Maybe the socialists he's been talking to are just out-right morons who think "Oh, Russia is communist, so their capitalism is better" or something ignorant along those lines.

Allesram, you're a little too new around here to be declaring anybody a troll, I suggest you cool your jets before jumping to conclusions and simply answer peoples questions politely.

So in conclusion Clyde, capitalism is capitalism as far as I'm concerned. Although it may have it's functions, Capitalism is always the enemy.

How would you know if it's false or not? You're not the one who talked to them. And i've talked to other socialists, and, although they didnt spit out blatant Russian nationalism, they clearly had sympathies towards Russia and thought Russia was "better" than the US (which would likely include economic aspects). So why is this?

He wasn't a socialist at all, but a nationalist.

Sorry my last post was directed to allesram. To winter: yeah, but a ton of them have said good things about Russia's capitalism and it is the worst example. To me, it seems they want to revert the way things were during the Soviet times and are hoping for things to return to the past. Thanks for clearing that up, at least you all dont think like that.

No, we leave that to juvenile liberals, greenies and third-worldists.

I haven't yet heard a socialist say they dislike Russia's currect economic condition.

If that's the case, I'm sure as hell not a socialist.

Simple, the guy is a moron who believes socialism is Russian apologism.

The conditions are worse in Russia now than before. Many are unemployed and corruption is bad.The MOB is all over the place.

In no way they are better than the US.

There's two possibilities: You're lying, or he wasn't a socialist, and he is still wrong. Nuff said.
