Great interview. I love his enthusiasm. He was no theoretician though and he shouldn't have tried to be one. I do like his emphasis on rank and file organisation though especially in the trade unions.

It would appear that his conductor, John Rees, wasn't listening when Cliff said it was a mistake to stand in elections.

ajs, the mistake was to stand in elections at that time. Cliff was not making a general point, set in concrete.

I met Tony a few times; he was like that in 'real life' too: boundless enthusiasm.
