The interchange below resulted from leaflets advertising a demonstration against U.S. noves toward war on Iran. There may be something of use to other comrades in the correct handling of relations with reactionary forces within united front situations (or not, criticism is sincerely solicited).

"I appreciate your thoughts on the matter. My own stance is one of noninterference with Iran as a sovereign country by the United States government, while supporting the workers' movement in Iran as part of my own internationalist proletarian duty. As a U.S. citizen in the U.S. the greater weight of my criticism falls on the government I can (presumably) more easily influence, my 'own.' As a wage-worker, however, I cannot ignore the use of flogging to break unions, and other authoritarian measures of the Islamic Republic. The coming demonstration, however, is totally directed against the U.S. government's aggressive moves in the region; questions of solidarity with social forces within Iran and opposition to their suppression do not enter into what is being built as an anti-imperialist action.

"I respect your enthusiasm and your humanistic values. I do recommend you to watch this video of the interview with the Iranian president and Mike Wallis regarding all the current issues that would help promote the U.S. to start a war with Iran, such as Nuclear power and etc. Also you can see the president of Iran first hand regarding communication and his opinions. I don't want you to change your stance on your opposition to corrupt governments but it's worth a try to introduce our president the way you don't get to see on the news here.

I was thinking about attending this with my brother but I think I would be very offended as a Muslim Iranian to see pictures and banners that defame our hero in Iran. He has changed the system so entirely that not only the country is surviving under the economic sanction the U.S. has puts it under but there is progress towards providing constant electricity for all of our villages. I don't believe you ever had your electricity cut for hours while you were doing homework or were in the shower. Nuclear power will allow us to have constant electricity like the U.S. and other countries. Of course in that state one can choose to make weapons too, but I assure you that making nuclear weapons is not a part of our religion. We do NOT make weapons that indiscriminately kill.(that is a doctrine of Islam and Iran is an Islamic country!)

The fact of the matter is that our president is showing all countries around the world that no country needs the U.S. to provide them with support, that it is okay for India not to have AOL support in their country and for Saudi Arabia to change their oil prices to Euro without being afraid of the U.S. attacking them like they did Saddam as soon as he changed his currency to bring profit to satisfy his never ending greed. Look at the world, it has become Americanized, so much so that countries like japan that once possessed cultural values have nothing left of them. The whole world is busy making STUFF for the consumers in the U.S. It's consuming 1/3rd of the world's resources by just having 5% of the population of the world. Well you NEVER see anything 'Made In Iran' here do you? and that's what the white house would like to change! to put everyone to work for their worldy materialistic things and that's where we go head to head. A culture that is more interested in the metaphysics than the material will not be a slave to the U.S.

Direct Wars and Proxy Wars have always been fought to better the economy of the U.S. but Iran has not attacked any of its neighbors ever since the Persian Empire collapsed.

The last war they were drawn into was because of the U.S. pushing Saddam to invade it. They simply defended and millions died from both sides. I myself at the age of 9 was a witness to all the caskets that were wrapped in our flag and brought into town on the back of 18 wheels 10 or 20 at a time 8 years after the end of war. The war had ended but the bodies kept coming.

Many died and all they wanted was to please God and have a monotheistic country. Nobody died for Iran, they died for Islam. Iran is the only Islamic based republic in the world and many would give their lives to keep it that way. Majority of the soldiers killed were from villages that have been Muslim for centuries now. IF a war breaks out again, the same people will rise in the name of God to defend one more time. It's not the country they defend it's our belifes that have built the country after the King system also backed by the U.S. was stealing money and oppressing the people and changing our culture to fit bars and strip clubs in it.

All the other rich and wealthy will leave the country in a matter of hours. and I can assure you that ahmadi nejad will stay to defend as well. He is a good man and he has done A LOT for our country. nobody wants to research, and the wealthy hate him because he catches them at stealing the religious taxes people pay. The media just hypnotises everyone into thinking he is just as evil as Bush when there is NO EVIDENCE for him being evil and TON OF EVIDENCE for Bush being a corrupt president everysince before he took office and stole his votes.

You may or may not agree with me. Either way, thanks for caring about humans in general. and i hope to God that Iran doesn't get attacked.
