I always save my money, rarely spending it. Unfortunately I lost 200 dollars recently by lending it out, expecting it back with interests, and never getting it back. Bad move but its a lesson learned for the future.

Unfortunately the state finds ample opportunity to protect the shareholders from such lending practices with the incorporation benefit.

This what I used to do when I had savings instead of nothing but debt. I kept my money in several no-load mutual fund families, about half in the stock funds and the other half in the cash funds. Whenever there's was a large one-day decline in the market, I switched some from cash to stock; whenever there was a large one-day rise in the market, I switched some from stock to cash. It as easy income for doing nothing but making phone calls. That was in my younger days. But now, since I have a mortgage and two college age teens, I have zero savings, and every year I just go further into debt. Hopefully I'll die before the bank begins foreclosure.

When I was younger I feel for the "education=guaranteed success" scam and have a large student loan I need to pay off. Because of this pretty much any spare money we have goes into paying that off, although I do occasionally buy the kiddo and myself Star Wars stuff. :blushing:

Since my girlfriend's schooling is free (unlike mine), when she is done with school and starts a job we will be saving the paychecks from her job and not spending a dime so after a few years we can send a big check and a big fuck you letter to the student loan criminals and be done with them. So in short, I fall under the spend as little as possible category, but with a few small indulgences here and there.

i dont really mind living off little, it sucks that it will take a while to save up enough to travel as opposed to being able to go whenever i like or within a short time.

but i never liked having much money anyway. it was stressful having so much money to spend. and having so much, i didnt spend it wisely.

I try to save as much as I can. I have a lot of credit debt. It is my fault, at the time I could afford it but then I got fired and now I am really struggling. But I will be able to pay it all off soon.
