i was thinking about the patriots supporting "our troops"

if i support the government, will it support me?
if i respect the government, will it respect me?
if i trust the government, will it trust me?
if i love the government, will it love me?

no, no, no, and no

but

if i hurt the government, will it hurt me?

yes. you could bet your life on it.

TO ALL THE BLIND PATRIOTS READING THIS, I SAY: SHAME ON YOU. A SHAME YOU ARE TO THE HUMAN RACE.

Personally I support the troops.

That's right... I support them.....

...... to come home! ;)

But seriously, unlike many of my comrades on this board and real life, I don't hate a person for doing their job. Even if that job is supporting imperialism. It is the officers and politicians that need to be strung up.

love and trust can not be received form any entity such as a "government, so you propose a false relationship

as for support and respect, I feel that I receive both from my government, thank you

While I am unsure if the mission over there is as clear cut as I would like, and I think that the end results are going to be a little (honestly, only a little) bit unsatisfactory to the Iraqi people, it has little to no bearing on my regards for the troops themselves.

Many of them are what the hard core Marxists here would consider the working class.

My brother is in Kuwait right now, driving a truck for freedom... heheheh.....

So while I don't have blanket approval of the actions the government has them doing, I support our troops because they are husbands and sons, wives and daughters of all of us.

how can someone support people who are bossed arpund by a midless dictator in order to kill innocent irakies ??

its simple stupid to support war, aggression is a barbaric form of settleing thing and in order for the human race to evolve into something to be prud of war must be the first hing to eliminate, along with Bush

the minds oir militaries only think on killing whatever comes on their way and defending the ultra-nationalism

its the right view to have. many soldiers join because they have no other options in life; victims of capitalism. Socialists should not be anti-soldier, but anti-officer. a lot of the soldiers don't want to be there, but they cant refuse, or they'd be blacklisted from employment for life. they are not scabs, as redstar2000 called them. that my view on the soldiers in the Gulf, i think differently of those in the 6 counties.

and people who follow there troops blindly are not Patriots. patriotism is a love of your country, not your government. i love Ireland, but i don't even recognise the free state or the occupied northern governments.

but that would have been less funny.

Patriotism isn't about supporting one's government, it's about supporting one's country

One socialist view is that both forces are tools of the bourgeois ruling class. That the soldiers are misled and they will suffer not at the hands of the enemy but at the hands of the ruling class.

If you do not support the troops, then do you support the idea of spitting on them when they get back?

They are there on orders. Regardless of thier politcal views, it is simply thier duty to obey. When they come back there will be a life time of nightmares, therapy, and healing to be done. I say SHAME on anyone who has any notions of spitting on a soldier.
