DPRK Foreign Ministry:

At dawn of March 20, the United States finally started its military attack on Iraq defying the unanimous protest of the international community.
The U.S. armed attack is a grave encroachment upon sovereignty.
The violation of Iraqi sovereignty already started with demanding disarmament by inspection and gradually led to the war.
The unilateral demand for the disarmament of a sovereign state itself is a wanton encroachment upon this country's sovereignty.
The encroachment upon sovereignty by military attack is the most vivid expression of violation of the rights of the people in this country.
Countries which liked to call for the "protection of human rights" in the past are directly joining in the current armed attack or conniving at it. Such "doctrine of strength" and hypocrisy disturb the international order while seriously threatening peace and security not only in the middle east but in the rest of the world.
The Government of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea is opposed to a war.
War against the independence of a sovereign state and human rights can never be justified.
This highhanded action of the U.S. against Iraq and the war preparations now being made by the U.S. and its followers in the Korean Peninsula compel the DPRK to do all it can to defend itself and help it clearly know for what it should do more.

China' Statement of the Forgein Ministry.

On 20 March, bypassing the UN Security Council, the United States and some other countries launched military operations against Iraq. The Chinese Government hereby expresses its serious concern.

The Chinese Government has all along stood for a political settlement of the Iraq issue within the UN framework, urging the Iraqi Government to fully and earnestly implement the relevant Security Council resolutions and calling for respect for Iraq’s sovereignty and territorial integrity by the international community.

Security Council Resolution 1441 adopted unanimously last November is an important basis for a political settlement of the Iraq question. It is the widely-held view in the international community that the strict implementation of Resolution 1441 can deny Iraq weapons of mass destruction through peaceful means. The Chinese Government has worked tirelessly with various countries to this end.

War will inevitably lead to humanitarian disasters and undermine the security, stability and development of the region and the world at large. People throughout the world detest war and want to see peace preserved. The Chinese Government is always committed to peace and stability in the world. We stand for settlement of international disputes by political means and reject the use or threat of force in international affairs. The Chinese Government strongly appeals the relevant countries to stop military actions and return to the right path of seeking a political solution to the Iraq question.

These to nations have good reason to be concerned about American determination to rid the world of tyranny...both of them are on the list.

That is laughable considering the fact that this was the United State's answer to Iraq's continued violation of the cease-fire agreement. Remember, the one that they signed after losing to the largest coalition force in history, after they violated the sovereignty of Kuwait.

I hope North Korea is taking a lesson. I believe the same argument can be made with respect to their nation, if they continually violate the 1953 Korean War Armistice Agreement (http://www.spacedaily.com/2003/030106061022.fvk8ewnc.html) we may find it necessary to conduct an incursion into their borders for the purpose of yet another regime change.

"Prohibited Acts: Rarely do armistice agreements prohibit specific acts by the belligerents other than the basic act of hostilities; and rarely is any action taken by the other belligerent when the opposing force has taken an action that it believes to be prohibited. However, any violation of the armistice agreement, including any hostile act, would certainly fall within the definition of being a "prohibited act." Although not specifically set forth in the Korean Armistice Agreement, certainly the frequent violations of the demilitarized zone by the North Koreans, the construction of tunnels under that zone, and the landing of commandos in South Korea, with such missions as to assassinate the president of the Republic of Korea, are prohibited acts." It's only a matter of time.

The DPRK and their opinion is a non factor. If Mr. Jong and the rest of the stalinist relics in power there continue to grandstand toward the USA, they will inevitably paint themselves into a corner, and thus meet a similar fate as the Ba'ath party in Iraq.

The DPRK is marginally more powerful than Iraq, but they cannot even come close to defeating the US, so the Chiuaua should consider ceasing nipping at the big dogs heel while he is chewing a different bone, otherwise, they will be next.
