I believe that George W Bush has created this war for all the standard reasons. Oil, imperialism etc. But i also believe that there is more to it.

As his farther was president as well he will see a need to meet his farthers expectaions. Whether subconciously or not, he feals that he must go one better than his farther that he must achive what his farther failed at, The complete destruction of the Saddam Regime.

Also i believe to add to that he wants to go down in history as the president who defeated facism in the middle east. That this is his oppertunuity to be seen to be striking down facism and terrorism in the middle east, solving the problems that other presidents have failed to resolve. I believe that this is his bid to write the history books, that he will go down in history as the Righteous crusader who finished the greatest problem of the day.

This is just an idea its probably not true... But what do you people think?

Why go down in the history books he isn't exactly literate (unless he wants his picture in it :P) Anyway the other reason is the strategic placement of Iraq in the middle east. Can't go for Korea, to risky as of yet. However Iraq would be a foothold. A country from which they could do allsorts.
