Can anyone give a loose list of once functioning anarchist society's?


Yes, I could research this alone, but, it helps to have a place to start.

The most prominent one I know of is Freetown Christiania, in Denmark. Another very well-known example is anarchist Catalonia, during the Spanish Civil War. Wikipedia also has a list of anarchist communities (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_anarchist_communities), which includes 17 examples.

There's also Ukraine, the Shinmin province in Asia, parts of Russia during the revolution, etc.
