I need some Leftist tunes to my on my iPod, I'm all decked out in Metal and Rock so some of the lighter stuff sounds good.
I already have 3 versions of the Soviet Anthem
I plan on adding The Internationale
I also plan to add this one impressive tune I found in chit chat.
Any songs similar I could add? Songs from the Soviet songs are perfect, but other songs about Communism is cool too.
Thanks

Linton Kwesi Johnson (sometimes written LKJ) is a political dub poet who in the very least leans to Marxism.
Especially evidenced on songs like Di Black Petty Booshwah.

Sorry I was gone for a little bit, although I haven't been finding any magic in some songs I've been looking for. Maybe I should pursue songs from the Red Choir?

The stuff they did with the Leningrad Cowboys was amusing, but outside of novelty it lacks any zest...
If you want explicitly leftist music, there's lots of good left-wing hiphop... immortal technique, sabac red (first ammendment  ), edo g, dead prez, nas, the coup...
Ska stuff like sin dios or against all authroity is good as well... Freedom Song by Randy is a prety good track to mention...
Other people to give an honorable mention: billy bragg, woody guthrie, leon rosselson, manics, dick daughan, the clash...
but really hiphop is where it's at

I think something is wrong with me, I think I'm beginning to prefer pop songs/softer songs more than my Metal and Rock...

Not really leftist, but I like get cape.wear cape.fly, songs are quite political.

I'd say The Style Council's Our Favorite Shop album. Anything from it is fine, but I prefer these two tracks, the album was made during Margaret Thatcher's reign:

The clash are always left wing, so is billy bragg, and both worth having. I dont know where Pink Floyd come from. The main reason they where constantly staying together was to make money. Anti fachist yes, but not left wing in any way
Manu chao is also very good. Although again not strictly leftie

Check this site out, tovarisch.
Best songs, IMO are "In the Blindage", "Katyusha", "Aegukka", "Glory to the Looking Forward", "Bella Ciao", "Forward, Time"...
Also, there's a ton of different versions of "Hasta Siempre Commandante"
Besides that, there's Gang of Four, which is awesome funky post-ponk by Frankfurt School revisionists, and a couple of good Soviet composers- Khachaturian and Prokofiev.

do what i did, look at the rev left radio. Some other good bands
Against Me! (not New Wave or Searching for a Former Clarity). I recomend "Baby I'm an Anarchist", "Burn" and "Cliche Guvera". Buy Reinventing Axl Rose. My personal favorite leftist band next to the Dead Kennedys. FYI: their not really radical any more but New Wave still has some left songs but their new lable Sire really toned it down.
NOFX if your into upbeat punk. War on Errorism is their most polictical cd
Reagan Youth, anything by them
Leftover Crack, same
Dead Kennedys, classic. Defintly listen to the album Give Me Convenience or Give Me Death.
Operation Ivy
Public Enemy
John Lennon, I dont agree with him too much but he can write a good song
Anti-Flag, not their new album
Against All Athority, Ska
If your into punk then look into OI! music.

Billy Bragg
Also, a friends band, heavily influenced by the aforementioned Mr. Bragg... self-described 'proletariat love songs.'
The New Dress - myspace.com/thenewdress (can't post links yet)
They have a record out, buy it.

For socialist realist music, Ernst Busch is essential.

Most overtly political music just ends up being annoying and preachy. I would suggest looking into bands which try to incorporate it into their way of dealing with the music industry etc.
I'd check out Fugazi, Big Black and Killing Joke going by your music taste.
